𝐍𝐨𝐧-𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝-𝐌𝐨𝐦-𝐀𝐧𝐝-𝐏𝐨𝐩 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬
They are simply awesome and unique. When we are out traveling working on some videos for 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐬, vacationing, or visiting family, Lindsay and I love looking for these restaurants.
You know, something a bit different. We like some franchised places too, but we want to find these as well.

𝑰𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑵𝒆𝒘 𝑻𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕, 𝒚𝒐𝒖’𝒓𝒆 𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔!!
When you start seeing Jesus in the Old Testament, Bible study gets really good.
A co-worker once told me I meant the New Testament. I didn't. The Old Testament is a set of billboards pointing to the coming Messiah, and most of us drive right past them, because we were told the OT is just history and great Bible stories.
𝐈𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 "𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐛𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬":
👉Isaac on Mount Moriah (Genesis 22)
👉Moses the mediator (Exodus 32; Deuteronomy 18:15)
👉The Passover Lamb& the bronze serpent (Ex. 12; Num. 21)
👉The Tabernacle (Exodus 25-27)
And we look at what Jesus Himself said about how to read the Scriptures: Luke 24:27, John 5:39, and Hebrews 10:1.
If you have ever skipped Leviticus, preferred the New Testament, or called yourself a New Testament church, I am not scolding you. I am inviting you. I used to skip it too.

𝙂𝙊𝘿 𝙏𝙊𝙇𝘿 𝙈𝙀...
We’ve all heard this… many many times. Everyone claims to have heard God speak to them.
“God spoke to my heart.” “The Holy Spirit told me…” “God gave me a word for you.”
But, here’s my question for consideration and discussion:
𝙃𝙊𝙒 𝘿𝙊 𝙔𝙊𝙐 𝙆𝙉𝙊𝙒 𝙄𝙏 𝙒𝘼𝙎 𝙂𝙊𝘿?
Was it a feeling? Maybe a thought? Some kind of impression that you just KNOW was Him? And… get this… how do you distinguish those things from the actual voice of God?
Additionally, what about this:

If God REALLY told you something, then that would make it a word from God, right? And wouldn’t a real word from God carry the same divine authority as scripture? Hmmmm…
We're commanded to test the spirits (1 John 4:1), and we know that Scripture is God-breathed (2 Timothy 3:16–17).
So let's have a discussion! How do you KNOW God spoke to you? Not how you felt. Not what you experienced. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝟭𝟬𝟬% 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪?
Bring your Bible, because you know what matters… 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙚, 𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚?!

🤔Ｈｏｗ’ｓ Ｙｏｕｒ Ｄｏｃｔｒｉｎｅ？🤔
R.C. Sproul once said, “𝘼 𝙘𝙝𝙪𝙧𝙘𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙘𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙙𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙘𝙝𝙪𝙧𝙘𝙝.”
𝘿𝙤𝙘𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖 𝙗𝙖𝙙 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙚 𝙙𝙖𝙮𝙨. Many people are pointing out doctrinal errors, false teachings, and heretical beliefs, so some people have come to view 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲 as something divisive and have begun to reject it altogether.
In many cases, they turn and seek the experiential in worship, choose to listen to freestyle TED-Talk-sermons about their beliefs, which, ironically, are doctrines in and of themselves, although not necessarily 𝙎𝙊𝙐𝙉𝘿 𝙙𝙤𝙘𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙚.
Paul wrote to Timothy:
“𝘿𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝙩𝙤 𝙂𝙤𝙙 𝙖𝙨 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙙, 𝙖 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙣𝙤 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙖𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙙, 𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙡𝙮 𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙩𝙝.” -2 Timothy 2:15
We must seek not merely to adopt 𝘼 𝘿𝙊𝘾𝙏𝙍𝙄𝙉𝙀 that we choose to believe, but to be obedient to our God by diligently studying His Word so that we may rightly understand 𝙎𝙊𝙐𝙉𝘿 𝘿𝙊𝘾𝙏𝙍𝙄𝙉𝙀 as it is laid out in 𝙎𝘾𝙍𝙄𝙋𝙏𝙐𝙍𝙀.
Studying God's Word, rightly understanding it, and holding firmly to sound doctrine are acts of love and obedience to Him.

🚓 𝔸 𝕌𝕟𝕚𝕢𝕦𝕖 𝕄𝕚𝕟𝕚𝕤𝕥𝕣𝕪: 𝕋𝕙𝕖 𝔻𝕖𝕡𝕦𝕥𝕪 ℝ𝕠𝕠𝕞 🚓
Down here in South Louisiana, 𝗕𝗮𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮 𝗕𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵 and 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗲 have launched something incredibly special for local law enforcement.
For context, just imagine it’s 2 am. You are a deputy on patrol who needs a few moments to use the restroom, grab a coffee or a bottle of water, maybe a snack… in a place where you can securely take off your vest and duty belt. But you want to stay in your district without driving back to the squad room. Yea, it’s not looking good.
Bayou Vista Baptist Church took action to meet that need that most citizens doesn’t know exists. They provided a dedicated, locked space that deputies can access 24/7. It gives then the freedom and security they need to use the facilities, get a snack, water, coffee, or eat a meal in peace… all the while staying right in the middle of their assigned district for quick response to any call that comes in.
Pastor Ronnie is familiar with this need firsthand, having served as a deputy sheriff for 8 years. After he saw the idea at another church, it hit home with him. He led the people of BVBC to see the need and brainstorm their deputy room. Now it’s fully stocked with drinks, snacks, Bibles, resources, and even sweet handwritten encouraging notes from the children in the church.
𝙄 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝘽𝙑𝘽𝘾 𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙡. When I graduated seminary in 1993, BVBC was the church I served. They are a sweet congregation who love the Lord and are willing to follow His leading to take the Gospel to a world that desperately needs to hear it. I am proud to call Pastor Ronnie my friend, and I thank God for him and the faithful people of BVBC.

So I am teaching this morning and I am trying to look over my notes one last time… but it’s difficult. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Granddaughter Maggie keeps smiling at me and making cute baby sounds.

"𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙝𝙚𝙘𝙮 𝙞𝙣 𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙨?" 𝙎𝙡𝙤𝙬 𝙔𝙖 𝙍𝙤𝙡𝙡 𝙊𝙣 𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨...
You have probably seen the posts showing storms Rachel, Simon, and Isaias, making a “message” that is: “Sheep, Listen, Yahweh is salvation.” I have seen people posting, calling it “prophetic,” and all that.
Umm, that is 𝙏𝙍𝙐𝙏𝙃 𝙒𝙀 𝘼𝙇𝙍𝙀𝘼𝘿𝙔 𝙋𝙊𝙎𝙎𝙀𝙎𝙎 from God's Word. We didn’t need coincidental names from storms to tell us that. We don’t need radar, cardinals, tea leaves, or any other sign to hear from God.
Hebrews 1:1-2 reminds us that God has already spoken completely and finally through His Son. My friends, 𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙥𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙤𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙎𝙐𝙁𝙁𝙄𝘾𝙄𝙀𝙉𝙏! Furthermore, the interpreting of omens is forbidden (see Deuteronomy 18:10). Trying to decode some secular storm-naming list edges awful close to superstition.
The wild irony here is that the message people are looking for or celebrating that some meteorological act has given, 𝙞𝙨 𝙘𝙧𝙮𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙈𝘼𝙉𝙔 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙥𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚. In fact, it is the main thread from the Old Testament to the New Testament, literally Genesis to Revelation, and expounded on all throughout.
𝘽𝙚𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙙, 𝙂𝙤𝙙 𝙞𝙨 𝙢𝙮 𝙨𝙖𝙡𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣; 𝙄 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙨𝙩, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙖𝙛𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙙; 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙇𝙊𝙍𝘿 𝙂𝙊𝘿 𝙞𝙨 𝙢𝙮 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙮 𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙜, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙝𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙢𝙮 𝙨𝙖𝙡𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣. -Isaiah 12:2

Kid rock recently announced that he is releasing a new album entitled “Halfway 2 Jesus.” However, in the process he revealed a tragic misunderstanding of grace, repentance, and salvation in a recent interview.
"𝑰 𝒅𝒊𝒅𝒏'𝒕 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒔𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒅... 𝑰 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝑰'𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒃𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑮𝒐𝒅." -Kid Rock
In the comment section of the Fox News post about this, I saw a widespread confusion that permeates our culture concerning salvation. Some are apparently trusting in works and rituals, saying:
"𝐼𝑓 𝑑𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑎 𝑏𝑒𝑒𝑟... 𝑖𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑠𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑑𝑜, 𝐼 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑘 𝑦𝑜𝑢’𝑙𝑙 𝑏𝑒 𝑎𝑙𝑟𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡," and "𝑊𝑒 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑏𝑎𝑝𝑡𝑖𝑧𝑒𝑑 𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑜 𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑐ℎ𝑢𝑟𝑐ℎ 𝑎𝑠 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑖𝑒𝑠... 𝑠𝑜 𝑠𝑡𝑜𝑝 𝑤 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑏𝑜𝑟𝑛 𝑎𝑔𝑎𝑖𝑛 𝑠𝑎𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔." Another commenter claimed, "𝑂𝑛𝑒 𝑑𝑜𝑒𝑠𝑛’𝑡 𝑛𝑒𝑒𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑏𝑒 𝑏𝑜𝑟𝑛 𝑎𝑔𝑎𝑖𝑛."
There were a few people got it right, commenting things like "‘𝐼’𝑚 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑠𝑎𝑣𝑒𝑑’ & ‘𝐼’𝑚 𝑟𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝐺𝑜𝑑’ 𝑖𝑠 𝑎𝑛 𝑜𝑥𝑦𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑜𝑛," and reminding people of Christ’s own words: "𝑌𝑜𝑢 𝑚𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑏𝑒 𝑏𝑜𝑟𝑛 𝑎𝑔𝑎𝑖𝑛."
As believers, we absolutely cannot blur the lines when it comes to the gospel. Nobody is born “right with God” (Romans 3:10-11) and every person is in need of forgiveness of sin. Jesus left no middle ground on these things:
"𝑻𝒓𝒖𝒍𝒚, 𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒍𝒚, 𝑰 𝒔𝒂𝒚 𝒕𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖, 𝒖𝒏𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒃𝒐𝒓𝒏 𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒅𝒐𝒎 𝒐𝒇 𝑮𝒐𝒅." -John 3:3
Salvation isn’t about being a good person, getting to heaven on your own merits, or relying on church rites. It is the sovereign work of God in the life of a person. His grace and mercy applied to a sinner, granting repentance and imputing the righteousness of Christ through faith alone.
Let us always be steadfast in proclaiming the true gospel, and as believers, we should pray for Kid Rock. He is a very talented man, who, like all of us, needs the Lord to pen his eyes and grant him true repentance and bring him 𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗪𝗔𝗬 to Jesus by His grace.

This past week while preparing to teach Adult Bible Study on Sunday morning, I felt the weight of standing to declare, “𝑇ℎ𝑢𝑠 𝑠𝑎𝑦𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐿𝑜𝑟𝑑,” and exegeting the text for the morning. I always feel that burden but this week it was more prominent in my mind than normal.
Being one of our teachers at church is definitely not a “right,” but is a responsibility with great weight. I prayed that God would lead me to exegete the message accurately, then be able to communicate it in a crystal-clear manner.
This is obviously not something we can do on our own merits. The challenge is real, the stakes are high, and we must not handle the Word of God in a reckless manner.
The brothers and sisters in Christ at church are faithful students of the Word. They add in the discussion time in such a way that the teacher learns as well. Lindsay and I appreciate them more than they know.
