Milkweed Bugs are helpful gardening Insects 🪲

These bugs are preventing overgrowth of the milkweed populations and signal with their bright colors to other animals advertise toxicity because the bugs absorb poison from the milkweed plant. They are harmless to observe and touch but not yummy 😬😄🤣 As native insects, they are an important part of a healthy, balanced natural habitat. So if you see them in your yard, it’s a good thing 🙌🏻📸

Can you see what’s on the Bees back leg?
No there aren’t 80s leg warmers…try again…
Well Ladies and Gentleman those orange ball like clumps on a bee's back legs are pollen baskets. Interesting…but how and why you wonder?
When loose pollen stick on the bees body, the bee uses some special grooming techniques and packs the pollen uniquely down. But what makes the pollen stick you ask? Good Question! It turns out they use a little bit of nectar or saliva to form a perfect little ball to carry back to their hive.
So when you see a bee fly low, she had a busy day and as bigger the balls.. well we all know what gravity can do 😄🐝📸

Another interesting pollinator to observe 🪰

Palpada Vinetorum, commonly known as the Northern Plushback, is a native species of Hoverfly frequently spotted in coastal environments. These harmless Hoverflys are excellent native flower pollinators.
