Heading into 2026 as Husband & Wife and soon to be Mom & Dad. This year has been one for the books but I have a feeling 2026 is going to be one of our best yet! 🥰

One of my favorite things to do this time of year is to sit down with my calendar and block off some non-negotiable dates. This could be anything from family trips, birthdays, yearly traditions, intentional days off, holidays, etc. For the first 7 or 8 years of owning this awesome photography business, I said yes to pretty much anything, at any time, in any place. While I wouldn't necessarily change that, I realized that because I was so busy working and running my business I missed out on a ton of things in my 20's. Plus I eventually got burnt out and something needed to change.

Now, especially with our little man on the way, it's even more important to me to block off days in my calendar that I won't book any elopements, meetings, shoots, etc. I even schedule in some "do nothing days" where although I may have things I want to get done and errands to run, it's not happening on my "nothing days". It was one of the best decisions I made I highly recommend everyone do this!

Regardless of what your life looks like, you can implement this right now! Make sure to put yourself and your family first, even if that means saying no to things in order to make sure you are rested, recharged, and not missing out on stuff you really want to be a part of. Even if that means reading a book and taking a nap on your deck on a beautiful Summer day.

Start with a few days or a few weekends that you block off in your calendar that are reserved for just you. This means saying no to invitations and not scheduling a darn thing! It's easier said than done but once you do it a few times it gets a lot easier to set some calendar boundaries moving forward.

Mike and Reilly's elopement was the perfect mix of special moments with their family, quality time with just each other throughout their day and magnificent views of the ADK high peaks!

They began their wedding day by getting ready in a large Airbnb with their immediate families. It was important to them to head out for a private adventure so after their first look with an epic mountain view, we hopped in the car and drove to Whiteface Mountain in Wilmington! We took our time and took in the views, while stopping for portraits and some road side bubbly. Once they felt ready, we went back to their Airbnb where they officially got married in a mountain ceremony with their parents and siblings in attendance. The rest of their day was relaxed and fun as they spent time celebrating with their loved ones and shared a few more quite moments to themselves.

Their fantastic dinner was prepared by Take Home Cheffy who came to their Airbnb and cooked dinner for everyone to perfection. They all wined and dinned outside while looking at the mountain view as the sun set, ending their stress-free wedding day in the Adirondacks!

Thinking about wether or not to wear a vail during your elopement? My advice... DO IT and go cathedral length vail, baby!!

Wedding vails not only make you feel a little more bridal but they also look incredible in photos! Especially if mother nature grants us with a breeze. You can always take your vail out for some photos so if you're on the fence, I say go for it!

Sure, a horse and buggy is pretty cool to arrive at your wedding in but what about traversing a mountain in a side by side?!

The Adirondack region offers so many unique things to incorporate into your micro wedding or elopement to make it truly unforgettable and fun! You don't have to hike a mountain for summit views, but you totally can if you want. Maybe you'd prefer a helicopter tour of the high peaks or a guided boat ride around Mirror Lake. The possibilities are endless!

If you're thinking about eloping in 2026, now is the perfect time to get to work booking a photographer, hair and makeup artist, Airbnb, etc. Although elopements tend to be quite a bit more flexible than traditional weddings, you don't want to miss out on some vendors you've been eyeing as you start planning your dream day.

Pro Tip: Hire an elopement photographer first and they should be able to help you not only plan your dream elopement but also recommend some incredible vendors to make your planning process a heck of a lot easier!

Picture this: you sit down after hiking a mountain to say your vows, surrounded by the high peaks of the Adirondacks, to read love letters from your family and friends. There's a bonfire illuminating the night and warming the air around you. Ch*****ne is bubbling on the arm of your Adirondack chair, and your wedding day dessert is next to you waiting to be enjoied.

It's the perfect way to end your elopement!
