In Phokis

In Phokis I fell in love with photography at 13. Here I am at 43 and still in love. I bought my first camera 17 years ago. Whatever you request I'm down. I do it all.

I specialize in Maternity, milestones and do the occasional weddings. No session is too much.

Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Wilmot! 🤍

What a beautiful day it turned out to be. What started out feeling like a heatwave quickly changed into the perfect overcast afternoon, complete with a refreshing breeze that made the day so much more comfortable. We were all definitely feeling the heat at first, but nothing could have taken away from the joy and excitement surrounding this special day.

These two have shared a love story that began as high school sweethearts, and after years of building a life together, they officially said “I do.” Surrounded by family and friends, they celebrated not only their marriage, but the beautiful family they’ve created together. With their two wonderful children by their side, it was such a meaningful moment knowing that they now all share the same last name.

Wishing the Wilmot family a lifetime filled with love, laughter, adventure, and countless happy memories together. It was truly an honor to witness and capture such a special day. 💍✨

Sometimes the most unexpected places make the best backdrops.

These senior portraits were taken years ago in downtown Johnson City at an old abandoned warehouse before it was torn down. It was one of those locations that looked ordinary at first glance, but once you started exploring, it was full of hidden gems.

We found 4 different settings that fit my senior perfectly. Since she was also a dancer, we were able to capture some beautiful images that showcased both her personality and her passion. Those dance portraits are still some of my favorites.

One of the spots was a loading dock at the end of a path near the railroad tracks. While trying to get into position, I almost ate dirt! I jumped right back up, brushed myself off, and kept snapping away. Sometimes getting the perfect shot comes with a few close calls.

Looking back at sessions like this reminds me that it's not always about having the most glamorous location—it's about finding beauty where others might not think to look.

Photo Session Tips for My Clients

I’m excited to capture your session! A little preparation can help you feel comfortable, confident, and ready to enjoy the experience. Here are a few tips to make the most of your time in front of the camera:

1. Choose Outfits That Feel Like You

Wear something that makes you feel comfortable and confident. Neutral colors, soft tones, and classic styles tend to photograph beautifully, but the most important thing is that your outfit reflects your personality.

For group sessions, aim for coordinating colors rather than everyone wearing identical outfits. Layers and textures (such as sweaters, scarves, jackets, or subtle patterns) can add visual interest.

2. Plan Your Outfits Ahead of Time

Try everything on before your session to make sure you love how it fits and feels. Bring any accessories or layers you may want to add, and avoid waiting until the last minute to decide what to wear.

3. Keep Hair and Makeup Natural

If you’re having professional hair and makeup done, choose a look that still feels like you. A little extra definition often photographs well, but comfort and confidence matter most.

For at-home preparation:

Moisturize your skin before the session
Bring a brush, lip color, powder, or any touch-up items you may need
Avoid trying a brand-new haircut or skincare routine right before your session
4. Arrive Relaxed and On Time

Give yourself plenty of time to get ready and arrive without rushing. A calm start helps create natural, joyful images.

5. Trust the Process

You don’t need to know how to pose! I’ll guide you throughout the session with prompts and direction. The best photos usually happen when you focus on each other, laugh, and enjoy the moment.

6. Bring Helpful Extras

Depending on your session, consider bringing:

Comfortable shoes for walking between locations
Water and snacks (especially for children)
A small touch-up kit
Personal items that are meaningful to you
7. For Families With Kids

Don’t stress if children aren’t perfectly still or smiling the entire time. Some of the most memorable images come from genuine moments—giggles, hugs, curiosity, and personality.

8. Most Importantly: Have Fun

Your connection, emotions, and personality are what make your photos special. Relax, be yourselves, and let’s create beautiful memories together!

I was seriously stressing all morning. My nerves were completely shot.

One thing I struggle with is being incredibly hard on myself. I overthink every little detail and convince myself I could have done better, even when I've given it my all.

After today's session, I walked away feeling like I hadn't done my best. I couldn't wait to get home and load the images onto my laptop, expecting to be disappointed.

Instead, I was blown away.

The photos turned out so much better than I imagined, and I genuinely think some of these are the best images I've captured all year. It's a reminder that sometimes the harshest critic in the room is me.

I still don't understand why I let anxiety and self-doubt get the best of me, but moments like this remind me to trust my skills and the work I've put in.

Well, this is a first for me. I’ve spent the last hour trying to remove 378 images from one of my SD cards, but no matter what I do,even after formatting it, the photos won’t go away.

As frustrating as it is to retire a memory card, I’m not willing to take the risk of using one that isn’t reliable. If it’s having trouble deleting files, there’s always the possibility that it could corrupt new images or fail during a session, and that’s simply not a chance I’m willing to take with my clients’ memories.

Thankfully, I have a replacement card on the way with even more storage, which will come in handy for an upcoming wedding. Sometimes protecting your clients’ photos means knowing when it’s time to replace your equipment, even if it still seems like it should work.
