There are few places I’ve carried in my mind for so long. This is one of them. I first visited Thousand Island Lake 27 years ago and have never forgotten the beauty of this location or the friends I shared it with.

It did not disappoint and was just as beautiful as I remembered! This was my first time combining backpacking with Astro and it was incredibly rewarding! I hope you enjoy this image.

✨135mm Milky Way Mosaic ✨

I’ve been working on this project for a while and it’s definitely the most challenging post processing I’ve encountered. Controlling the gradients is a beast. Hope to reshoot this whole thing before summer is over and try again and with Ha data.

Image details:
Camera: Sony a7iii Astro modified
Lens: Rokinon 135mm f/2
42 panels of 60sec each | f/2.8 | 1600ISO
Processed in astro pixel processor, pixinsight and photoshop.

Rho Ophiuchi Cloud Complex and friends. Rho is one of my favorite objects in the Milky Way. At 400 light years away it is one of the closest star forming regions. Trying some new thing at different focal lengths.

Image details:
Camera: Sony a7iii Astro modified
Lens: Rokinon 85mm f/1.4
25x 60 seconds at f1.8 | 640ISO
Processed in pixinsight and finished in Lightroom

Plate solved this in pixinsight and used the annotate plugin to label some different objects in this image.

This shows the context of the Milky Way of what I captured. Hope you enjoy!
