As summer winds down in North Georgia, I’m spending my last few days with these tiny jewels before they begin their long journey south.

The Ruby-throated Hummingbird never ceases to amaze me—such vibrant energy in such a small package. I’ll miss the buzz of their wings around the forest until they return next spring.

There are few sights that stop me in my tracks quite like an Indigo Bunting in breeding plumage. 💙

Each spring, these little songbirds transform into living sapphires — shimmering with a color that almost doesn’t seem real. Photographing them is always a highlight for me, not just because of their beauty, but because of the patience it takes to sit quietly and wait for that perfect moment.

This image, Sapphire Song, is one of my favorites — a reminder of how much wonder is hidden in the smallest corners of the wild. 🌿

“Wonder what’s up there?” 🐻🌳

This curious black bear stopped mid-forest stroll to take in the scents and sights above. A reminder that sometimes it’s the little pauses in life that bring the biggest wonder. ✨

Captured ethically in its natural habitat — no baiting, no game farms. Just wild moments, as they were meant to be. 🌿

A quiet moment with an Atlantic Puffin, preening in the calm waters off Petit Manan Island, Maine.

Captured this August (2025), the light was perfect for reflecting its vibrant bill and striking plumage. Puffins spend most of their lives at sea, so every chance to observe them up close in the wild feels like a gift.

Reminder: 5% of everything sold on my site supports wildlife conservation—helping protect species like these charismatic seabirds.

Drop off Day!

A few of my wildlife prints will be featured in the Blue Ridge Mountain Arts Association’s National Juried Photography Show from August 30 – October 18 in beautiful Blue Ridge, Georgia.

Last year, one of my images took First Place in the Nature category, and I’m honored to be included again among so many talented photographers from across the country.

If you’re in the North Georgia Mountains during this time, I’d love for you to stop by, enjoy the show, and support both local and national artists. All pieces are for sale, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting BRMAA and their mission to keep the arts thriving in our community.

New Print Release in honor of . The Three Amigos — captured in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.

While scouting sunset locations, I kept crossing paths with three Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep throughout the day. Just as the light began to fall, I spotted them resting high on the cliffs. With only moments to react, I switched from my landscape setup to my wildlife lens and caught this fleeting image—seconds before they disappeared into the canyon.

Bighorn Sheep are not only iconic symbols of the American West, but also a conservation success story—once near extinction, now carefully protected in wild spaces like the Black Canyon.

The Three Amigos is now available as a museum-quality fine art print in a variety of sizes and materials, perfect for bringing the spirit of the wild into your home. Plus, 5% of every purchase supports the World Wildlife Fund to protect wildlife and preserve wild places.

A young black bear cub peers out from the safety of its mother’s side — a fleeting moment that speaks volumes about the wild’s delicate balance.

Images like this are more than just beautiful; they’re part of conservation photography — telling the stories of wildlife that depend on healthy habitats and responsible stewardship. Every cub represents the future of its species, and protecting them means protecting the ecosystems they call home.

Captured with patience, respect, and a safe distance — because the wild deserves our admiration, not our interference.

Wonderful morning out with the Puffins yesterday. They'll probably remain on land for the next week or three here in Maine before returning to sea for the winter. We did notice a few puffin were losing their breeding "Plumage" and had darker, smaller beaks and darkened facial feathers below their eyes. I'm not sure i got any great images of this, but if so i'll post later.
