Emily and Eric’s wedding in Chicago was built on connection. Family was woven through every moment, from the speeches that had everyone laughing and crying to Emily’s dad taking the saxophone stage more than once, keeping the energy alive and reminding everyone that joy is contagious.

The morning unfolded in two spaces. Emily, her mom, and her bridesmaids gathered at Emily’s condo in Chicago. Chic, intimate, close to everything. Meanwhile, Eric and the groomsmen started their day with a dip in the lake before heading to the Gwen Hotel, where they’d shower, dress in their tuxes, and keep the celebration rolling.

There was something especially meaningful about photographing Emily on her wedding day. She’s spent mornings behind the camera with us at other Chicago weddings, assisting and observing. Seeing her genuine reactions, her joy, her way of living so completely in the moment, shifted something. Emily doesn’t perform happiness. She lives it. And watching that unfold in front of the lens, knowing her story and her heart, made this day feel different. She’s the kind of person you want to take with you everywhere.

Then came the second line. They brought New Orleans to Chicago, and it was glorious. Umbrellas, music, an entire procession from cocktail hour straight into the reception. And when they returned to the dance floor in their outfit change, their friends rushed toward them completely. That’s when you see it clearly: this couple is so deeply loved.

The Ivy Room became a vessel for something real that day. A small wedding venue in Chicago that witnessed a family celebrating two people choosing each other, surrounded by the people who matter most.

A weekend at Greencrest Manor | European Garden Wedding Estate in Battle Creek, Michigan, where mother nature proved as generous as the couple at the center of it all. Jadon and Mason’s wedding was forecast to meet severe storms on Saturday, but something shifted. The radar softened. What began as sunshine and celebration at Friday’s welcome party melted into the gentlest of sprinkles as guests gathered for the ceremony, as if the sky itself was blessing their union with restraint and grace.

There’s a particular kind of beauty in how couples respond to what they can’t control. Jadon and Mason moved through the day with such intention and care—covered spaces for drinks, umbrellas at the ready, thoughtful gifts to ease any discomfort. Two hundred and sixty guests surrounded by gestures of love from the two people at the center of it all. The gardens and verandas of Greencrest Manor held their wedding with the same gentleness.

Quiet first looks in the gardens. Laughter moving through rooms full of people who came to witness something genuine. Every detail felt personal and true. I loved how each table had a dedicated “captain” to help keep the party going, and how the drone show was a big surprise.

It was an honor to document their story alongside an exceptional group of creatives and vendors who made this celebration feel exactly as it should.

New outfits in jewel greens and blues. A choreographed dance floor. Tables laden with dishes that tasted like home. The couple moved through their own celebration with generosity and joy, their warmth setting the tone for a night of unguarded laughter and connection.

The Hilton downtown Columbus, Ohio hosted centuries of ritual and two families becoming one. From the intricate details—the emerald ring box, the hand-embellished invitations—to the baraat's arrival and the ceremonial moments at the altar, every element carried weight and intention. Shuvro and Chergai stood at the center of something larger than themselves, grounded in culture, embraced by everyone who came.

Shuvro and Chergai stepped into Columbus's urban landscape for a moment that was entirely theirs—modern, intimate, unhurried. From brick facades to the unexpected stop at Night Slice, they moved through the city with ease and affection, writing their own story in the spaces between ceremony.

I am so excited to share some of the images from the past weekend with Shuvro and Chergai's celebration. There were so many event to share, so enjoy recap of each moment!

Shuvro's family home in Beavercreek became a canvas of celebration. Draped in golden yellows, vibrant pinks, and rich jewel tones, the women gathered for the Haldi—a ritual steeped in tradition and layered with the warmth of family. The turmeric paste, the laughter, the generations in one room. This was the prelude to everything that would follow.

Emily and Evan drove north from Tennessee to marry close to the people who raised them. There is a particular kind of intention in that choice, in deciding the day should belong to family as much as to the two of you.

July in the Midwest can go either way, but this Saturday held its warmth and its light all afternoon. Emily got ready with her ladies while the morning unspooled in no particular hurry. There was a first look with her dad before there was one with her groom, and both carried the weight of everything unsaid.

They said their vows at Saint Peter and Paul, walked back down the aisle into a kiss and a room full of family, then slipped away to Two-EE's Winery for a glass and a breath before the celebration proper. By the time they reached The Clubhouse, the party was already theirs. Harry’s cups made the rounds, the dance floor filled, and as the sun dropped they wandered out for s’mores and a few quiet frames just for them.

A wedding close to home, for a couple who understood that the whole point was who would be standing there when they turned around.

I have so many previews to be sharing, but first how about a past couple with their brand new baby? I don't take on many newborn sessions these days, although I love the snuggles.

It is hard to be ready and available when I am off traveling for weddings, so when the stars align and I get to catch up and snuggle a newbie, I feel so lucky.

Kara Gillespie and Grant Gillespie - your home, pets, and baby are PERFECT.

This “off season” held more than I expected, in the best way. January took me through Italy, Austria, and Germany, soaking in new places and perspectives that always seem to shape the way I see and document moments. I also had the honor of stepping in for a photographer friend, capturing two weddings while she welcomed her first baby into the world. There is something deeply meaningful about using this skill to support others in both big and quiet seasons.

Speaking of babies, I’ve photographed five newborn sessions already this year. While weddings remain at the heart of what I do, I do take on a limited number of portrait and commercial sessions each year, and I’m looking forward to sharing more of those stories here.

I’m easing back in by sharing a glimpse into Sierra and Bryce’s October wedding, a day that felt like everything we love about fall in the Midwest. The quiet sound of leaves underfoot, a soft breeze (actually very windy) carrying laughter across the fields, and an evening rain that made the glow inside feel even warmer.

Their day was sweet, full of joy, and such a reflection of who they are together. The kind of celebration that centers on presence, connection, and the people who matter most.

A beautiful day made possible by an incredible team:
