The Fall foliage in Connecticut is so beautiful in October. It is one of the things I loved most living in New England and it’s one of the things I took for granted. I realize that now that I live in South Carolina I’ve left behind the Fall colors and smell. I joke that the only way I know it’s Fall in South Carolina is because of the football games!

From Water’s Edge in Westbrook, CT. The first day of our CT, trip. The resort is located on Long Island Sound - a large semi enclosed estuary of the North Atlantic Ocean located between the coast of Connecticut to the north and Long Island, New York, to the south. It is a tidal estuary where salt water from the ocean mixes with fresh water from the rivers creating a unique environment. The deepest channel in Long Island sound is known as the Race. The depth of this channel ranges between 60 feet and 350 feet deep. I’ve had the privilege of having 60 summers worth of swimming and boating in the sound off the shores of Old Saybrook, CT.

Day 33. On our way home. We had a very memorable stay in Clyde, NC. Located in Haywood county in western NC known for its scenic beauty including the Blue Ridge Parkway and Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Great place to visit. Very close to Maggie Valley and Waynesville. So much to explore.
