And a drive that will have you pulling over every five minutes for another photo? Absolutely.

If Cape Town is on your list, these are the spots I wouldn’t skip:

🌊 V&A Waterfront — Start here for harbor views, great restaurants, shopping, and a lively atmosphere that makes an easy first stop in the city.

🎨 Bo-Kaap — Wander through the colorful streets and learn about the neighborhood’s rich Cape Malay history while grabbing plenty of photo-worthy shots.

🚗 Chapman’s Peak Drive — Buckle up for one of the most spectacular coastal drives anywhere, with cliffside curves and ocean views the entire way.

🌍 Cape of Good Hope — Head to the rugged tip of the Cape Peninsula for dramatic scenery, hiking trails, wildlife, and those famous coastal views.

🐧 Boulders Penguin Colony — Because yes, you can spend part of your Cape Town trip hanging out with African penguins on the beach.

The beautiful red rocks, stunning views, and multitude of hiking options make Sedona a top destination for outdoor enthusiasts. You don’t even have to hike to see some amazing views, but if you head out on one of hundreds of Sedona trails, you won’t be disappointed! Trails vary widely in length and difficultly so plan accordingly.

Before we share the details, be sure to follow for more beautiful destinations and helpful tips!

Our recommendations:
🥾 Start at the Mescal Trailhead for your Devil’s Bridge hike to get the iconic, Instagram-worthy pic of Devil’s Bridge. START EARLY!! Hiking is very popular in Sedona, and parking lots fill up quickly!

You will likely have to wait for your turn to have the bridge to yourself for your photo. The later you get there, the longer the line.

🚘 Drive around! There are so many eye-catching, grab-your-phone views.

🌧️ If you planned a lot of outdoor activities and the weather isn’t cooperating, head to the nearby town of Cottonwood and do some wine tasting. Or just stroll around the cute downtown area.

☀️ While Sedona can be enjoyed year round, winter months are less crowded. And as you can see from the last photo, it does get snow, but it doesn’t last long and adds another layer of beauty to the red rocks.

✈️ Closest airport is Flagstaff, but flights to Phoenix might be cheaper and have more arrival/departure options.

🌊 One California coastal town, three unforgettable ways to experience it.

Before we get to the details, be sure to follow for more scenic destinations and helpful tips!

Carmel-by-the-Sea is the kind of destination where you can spend the morning walking a white-sand beach, the afternoon exploring dramatic coastal trails, and the evening wandering galleries and charming streets—all within a few miles.

📍 Carmel-by-the-Sea highlights
• Carmel Beach — Walk the shoreline and Scenic Road, especially beautiful around sunset.
• Ocean Avenue — Browse art galleries, boutiques, courtyards, wine-tasting rooms and restaurants.
• Carmel Mission — One of California’s historic Spanish missions and a worthwhile stop just outside the village.
• Point Lobos State Natural Reserve — Just south of Carmel, with rugged cliffs, hidden coves, cypress groves and trails overlooking the Pacific. Keep an eye out for sea otters, seals, and whales.
• 17-Mile Drive — Take the scenic route through Pebble Beach for stops including Lone Cypress, Bird Rock, Spanish Bay and spectacular coastal viewpoints.

☀️ Best time to visit:
Fall is one of the best bets for clearer skies and warmer afternoons. Summer can bring morning fog and cool coastal temperatures, while spring offers pleasant weather before the heavier summer marine layer.

💡 3 PRO TIPS
1️⃣ Get to Point Lobos early. Parking is limited, and the reserve can fill up—especially in summer and on holiday weekends. Arriving before 9:30 a.m. gives you a better chance of getting in.
2️⃣ Bring layers. Even when it’s sunny in town, the coast can be surprisingly cool and windy.
3️⃣ Don’t try to rush everything into a few hours. Give Carmel time to explore on foot, then dedicate a separate block of time to Point Lobos or 17-Mile Drive.

🇭🇷 Before you book Hvar, take a look at Korčula. It might be the Croatian island you’re actually looking for.

Korčula combines everything people love about Croatia—clear Adriatic water, a historic walled Old Town, scenic beaches, local wineries, and waterfront restaurants—but with a more relaxed atmosphere than many of the country’s best-known islands. Spend your days wandering the narrow stone streets, climbing the cathedral bell tower for panoramic views, swimming at Pupnatska Luka Beach, tasting Pošip and Grk wines, or exploring the island’s quiet villages and coastline by bike or car.

Getting there: Take a high-speed ferry from Split (about 2.5–3 hours) or Dubrovnik (around 2 hours). If you’re driving Croatia’s coast, it’s an easy hop from Orebić on the Pelješac Peninsula via the short car ferry.

🇫🇷 Strasbourg is one of those cities that deserves more than a quick day trip. With its blend of French and German influences, walkable historic center, canals, and impressive architecture, it’s an easy destination to add to any France itinerary.

🚄 Getting there from Paris: Take the direct TGV from Paris Gare de l’Est to Strasbourg. The journey takes about 1 hour 45 minutes, making it one of the easiest high-speed rail trips in France.

Don’t miss these five highlights:
⛪ Strasbourg Cathedral – Climb to the viewing platform for sweeping city views, admire the stunning Gothic architecture, and catch the famous astronomical clock in action.
🏘️ La Petite France – Wander the canals, timber-framed homes, and pedestrian streets that make this one of the city’s most charming neighborhoods.

With colorful half-timbered houses, flower-lined canals, and centuries-old streets, Colmar is one of the highlights of the Alsace region. Wander through Little Venice, admire the beautifully preserved Old Town, visit the covered market, and don’t miss landmarks like the House of Heads and Saint Martin’s Church.

📍Travel Tips:
• Arrive early or stay into the evening to enjoy the quieter streets after the day-trippers leave.
• Wear comfortable shoes—the historic center is best explored on foot over cobblestone streets.
• If you’re visiting during the Christmas market season, book accommodations months in advance because it’s one of Europe’s most popular holiday destinations.
