Tried out motion blur. It was not easy to get somewhere on the subject somewhat in focus as they ran by. Had a whole lot of misses! 😆 Set my shutter speed to 1/30 for these. Will definitely try this out again during baseball.

Look for the details that tell the story. This meet was muddy, so I looked for mud. The runners often write on their bodies for inspiration, so I looked for those personal messages. The watches record progress, so I looked for the metrics. The loose KT tape, the facial expressions, the name of the school - all tell a story. Look for the details, and find the story.

I have ALWAYS loved black and white photos. My college roommate and I decorated our apartment with Ansel Adams images. My walls are now covered in black and white portraits, architecture, and nature. So, it only makes sense that I bring that into my sports photography. Inspired by Adams and Dragan, I find my style somewhere in between…a clean cinematic grit…bold, detailed, and emotional. I want you to feel the story caught in that single moment of time…the faith, the pain, the joy, the focus, the determination.

Finally getting around to posting cross country pictures now that the season is over. 🙃 This was such a fun meet! 4x1.5 mile rubber chicken relay. The races were a cacophony of cheers and chicken squeaks. 😂
