30 yrs after pursuing photography in high school and college, the passion to take pictures has been reignited. Therefore, this page has been created to mark the beginnings of a new project in my life….The Focused Lens. I’m just going to enjoy taking pictures and see where it goes. One of the greatest joys of photographing high school students is capturing the chapters of their story that deserve to be remembered.

The hours of training, the discipline to keep showing up, and the confidence earned through hard work are shaping who she is becoming long before graduation day arrives.
As parents, it’s easy to just focus on senior year, but every year of high school matters. Ninth grade is such an important transition—a season of growth, maturity, and discovering who they are becoming as young adults.
That’s why these moments are worth documenting now, not someday.
Years from now, Bryleigh and her family won’t just remember that she trained in BJJ. They’ll remember the determination, confidence, and character she was building along the way.
Because every chapter of the journey deserves to be remembered, not just the final one.

Along with the many familiar faces I see each year at Recital Portraits, there’s always a new group of dancers stepping in front of my camera for the very first time—often wondering why their dance school has suddenly turned into a photography studio.
When Miss Avery walked into the room, she was shy, uncertain, and determined not to let go of Dad. Skipping her portraits or forcing the moment wasn’t an option, so we simply met her where she was. Dad stayed close by. At first, I just embraced him being in the frame, and then perched nearby, always within reach. If I could get just a lil separation I'd edit him out.
With a little patience, a lot of reassurance, and time to build trust, Avery slowly began to relax. And then it happened—the sweetest smile appeared. Not only did we capture a beautiful recital portrait, but we preserved some sweet moments that perfectly reflected who she was that day. Daddy's girl.
