Just after sunrise in February, I pointed my lens at the peak of the Grand Teton and held my breath. No sound. No movement. Just snow, wind, and sky exactly as it has been for thousands of years.

Ansel Adams stood in this same landscape and taught us to see it. Looking through my viewfinder, I understood why. There are so few places left where you can look in any direction and see only what was always there. The Tetons still hold that, barely.... while the valley below keeps growing.

This image is a reminder for me of what we stand to lose, and why it matters to protect what remains wild.
