On this day, December the 18th, in 1966, Michelangelo Antonioni's film Blow-Up, starring David Hemmings, Vanessa Redgrave, Jane Birkin, and Veruschka, opened in the U.S.

Loosely based on the London photography scene, and inspired by the lives of photographers such as David Bailey, Terence Donovan, David Montgomery and John Cowan the film led to a surge in both camera sales and photography course enrolment in the US. ...................

Did exciting night shoots of steam locomotives at night, with flash bulbs.

Remembering photographer O. Winston Link who was born on this on this day, December the 16th, in 1914.

Link, seen on the left in this self portrait, was best know for his large format night photography, often featuring steam trains.

He is pictured here with some of his lighting equipment and his assistant George Thom.
