As we were getting ready to enter Yosemite Valley, we saw this older Black Bear, grazing on some grasses and what I believe is skunk cabbage. I did not stay long, as soon as he acknowledged my presence, that is when I went on my way!

The return of Winter, the most wonderful time of year for Owls! Stumbled upon this Snowy Owl while on my usual winter beach walks, I was also trying to get wave action across the way, did I end up doing that though? Nope. So I snapped a few shots and moved on, there wasn't really anyone there when I found them, but then there was after about 15 minutes. I don't do crowds at any wildlife. Not shaming anyone that does, but that is my personal preference and my own set of ethics views, but know when to move on. This Snowy was very peacefully resting and barely moving with children playing and dogs barking, it was not phased. The excitement is intense with this Owl species, just don't overcrowd them, enjoy them and move on. One thing I will say though is so many have massive lenses with massive reach, there is no need to be 50 feet away. Again, to each their own, but I took this at minimum 200+ feet away on higher ground. This is heavily cropped. Anyways, I am so happy they are back, and I do hope this is an irruption year for them.

The real enemy to these beautiful Owls is rodenticides, here is hoping that we can have those banned here in MA and hopefully nationwide

Screech Owls have a way with pulling your heart strings, they are so little, yet so fierce! Definitely my favorite Owl to watch and photograph! They are so much fun to watch and they have the best calls out of all the Owls that I have photographed!! I will add that these Owls only become active after sunset and it is dark when these photos are taken, they do stay still long enough to get a clear shot!!!

A Barred Owl in the thick tree cover perfectly framed, only for a few minutes. This Barred Owl was very active with many successful hunts. I watched them for a little bit hunting and gulping down their food. An incredible day out birding yesterday! Three different owl species, and heard others as well. Lots of waterfowl and lifers! The perfect day for a wildlife/birding photographer
