Ever wonder how to ship products, gifts, or film to save on costs for personal and business?

As someone who has been running a vintage and Etsy shop since 2019, I’ve spent many hours packaging items and shipping them. These are just a few tricks I’ve learned to save the most money.

1. Never pay for shipping at the shipping centers!
2. Save all your mailers from your own online orders.
3. Order free shipping supplies from USPS.

To be quite frank with you all, it’s been quite lonely for me.

As a homebody + someone who suffers from chronic migraines + introvert, I love the comforts of home knowing what I can control.

Once you leave your house, there’s not much you have control over. Life is full of decisions and decision paralysis and boy does it hit you hard when you worry about everything already.

I want to make friends. I want to feel seen. It’s just figuring out how to get there and putting that foot out the door.

If you are feeling lonely, I want you to know someone else is feeling it too. That deep rooted ache for honest friendships and just another person you can be your true self with.

I will be hosting some meet ups at coffee shops starting this month in February across Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins. If you are feeling a bit nervous about meeting new people, come join us because I’m nervous too!! The first meet up will be in Longmont so go to my stories to vote on the date that works best 🖤

The Colorado winter is brutal this year. I’m even happy the snow is melting, just so that I know I can go outside without my hands freezing.

Feeling awkward your entire life?

Yeah, same here.

I was adopted at 6 weeks old, always feeling like I did not fit into this world. I read books on Friday nights. My friends and I would hang out and read endless J-14 and Tiger Beat magazines. Being with each other meant more than going and doing something all the time.

Deep in my heart, I knew I was loved, but even so, being adopted leaves you with the desire to belong and be wanted.

Always feeling like an outsider. You seek to create safe spaces for others.

As a photographer, I seek to make people feel seen, heard, and known so they may have a glimpse of what it is like to belong, even if it is just for an hour.

What if I told you this was taken on a $35 reusable film camera?

Because it was.

When I first started with film, I used the Ilford Sprite 35 as my intro to understanding what film stocks I would want to use regularly. It’s basically a reusable disposable camera. Nothing fancy about it. I was still too afraid to use my manual Pentax ME, so I just used this little guy for fun.

Your photos might not be as clear, film labs will tell you your roll is inconsistent, you’ll probably have more grain, but it’s still okay to use disposable cameras or disposable like cameras. Especially for the cost of film and sending it to a film lab, at this point in the world sometimes disposable is just more efficient.

At the end of the day, your gear is not as powerful as your eye.

How you see the world through what you capture is what people look to you for.

A moment for HER.

Funny story: This is the kind hearted and talented makeup artist, Becky. I knew Becky from a styled shoot organized in the beginning of last year as she did all the makeup for the models.

Fast forward to October, the night before the wedding I was going to second shoot, I put two and two together and realized I was going to help photograph her wedding!!

Even though we didn’t know I was helping with her wedding until that weekend and it wasn’t from networking with her, I still firmly believe in opening yourself up to making as many connections as possible on your journey in whatever career you choose to be in. Becky was the first to share a bunch of my work to her Instagram back when I first opened my photography business and gave me so many shoutouts. You need people in your corner to cheer you on because most days are hard in the world of an artist amongst critics.

So give love to people you know whether it’s sharing their work to your stories, leaving a simple comment on a post, recommending them to your friends, Venmoing them for a coffee, or even checking up on how their life is going.

Prioritizing others by doing the little things makes it feel less lonely for them in a world of competition.

Moments are meant to be real.

Not every moment is meant to be captured perfectly.

This moment.

My favorite photo I’ve ever taken on film. Yes, no one’s looking at the camera. Trust me, I know it’s in black and white. It’s what I prefer.

It’s a photo where I just feel everything all at once.

This here is why I use analog film. The unknown becoming a beacon of light and a moment of pure joy. You have to accept what you can’t control and embrace what you are given.

And trust me, I have my fair share of out of focus 35mm film photos + blown out Polaroids. But that’s okay.

Do what you can with what you have. Take time to play.
