Whenever I’m preparing for a gallery show, I’m always looking for any excuse to engage with the community and have a heart-to-heart conversation about important, sometimes difficult, topics. This upcoming show, *UnMute – Melanin Musings: An Earnest Peek into the Margins*, will offer just that. Over the first three Fridays in November, we’ll explore various facets of this journey: a Photography Exhibit, a Literary Symposium, and a Panel Discussion. It’s an opportunity to dive deep into the art and the conversations behind it. Come for the art, stay for the conversation.

FACADES is tomorrow night 5-8:30PM!✨🎭
Find the best mask - YOU’RE INVITED to a MASQUERADE. In the third installment of SPEAK NO MORE, our conversational event is about Facades. The ones we wear and hide behind. The question is why do we Mask Up and how do we unmask ourselves to live a more authentic life? Or is the facade as authentic as we get?

The last two events have been incredible. PANGEA and CHASMS were full of delicious food, vibrant music, deep conversation, lovely people, and art covering the walls. These multifaceted events are so special - don’t miss this Friday for FACADES, a masquerade event, and the next two Fridays for the rest of this journey!✨

What an incredible opening of the Speak No More exhibit!! People came, saw, engaged the work, stayed for the conversation. It was organic, it touched on art, on life, and how it’s is an extension of life… art as a holder of history, culture, fear, a message… how it gives permission to ‘be’ whatever the observer needs permission to be. Art isn’t for the one who made it but for the one who sees it and engages it. And it’s the same in this life we live… if we engage each other… through conversation… in a way, we can do what art has shown as an example. Excited to continue the journey next Friday 3/10 5-8:30PM for CHASMS.

“To what end?” one might ask. “So that we can just get along, …. but better. “

This exhibit provides/creates a space to have conversations start and flourish that have to do with/ and aid in the closing of the gaps between people. Perhaps with us speaking to each other (prompted by the quotes and questions that come with each piece) could we start to heal the many things that divide.

Each observer is implored to reason with each piece and with themselves. As they are confronted with each piece’s beauty or mysticism - the hope is that the piece will cause them to go further than what they see as they answer or ponder the question/quote that comes with it. This exhibit seeks to create a space that’s “safe” for the observer to cross a threshold that they didn’t even know they could or would cross.

Each Friday in the month of March the SPEAK NO MORE fine art photography exhibit will host an event that takes us through a journey of conversation and connection. Beginning with PANGEA - an evening to reflect on our shared human experiences of belonging & what has held us together. From there we will experience CHASMS… FACADES… IMMERSION… LISTENING. You are invited to the opening of my first solo exhibition, entitled Speak No More, as part of the Month of Photography Denver. It will be a riveting art exhibit that combines provocative imagery with philosophical questions and quotes. Through the exhibition process I hope to solicit deep conversation that aims to close gaps perpetuated by dividing lines and systemic contours.
