I have stepped over this tree countless times on the way to the creek; 100 at least. On our way to the creek, Katie suggested we use it for a picture and I immediately discounted her idea; it's just a dead tree. We went about our session in the creek but I couldn't get that fallen tree in the back of my head. As we egressed the creek we stopped to take a look, there was more than a fallen tree in front of us. We kicked around a few ideas and Payton created a fantastic image, one of the best ever!
To me, that tree was an obstacle. To Katie, that tree was an opportunity.
Lessons Learned:
1 - The only difference between a stumbling block and a stepping stone is how you approach it.
2 - Never discount someone's opinion before you fully understand it.
3 - Always listen to mom.
