“Today we’re not going to talk about bats. Instead, we’re going to talk about how to trash talk a pitcher when we’re in the field and not retrieving.”

"I wrote the book because I felt like I was led by God to write the book…

I realized it was very bold….I have a lot of friends of different races and my biggest fear was that they were going to feel like I was attacking caucasian people or hispanics, but i just wanted them to see my perspective from being a black woman.
My approach was to speak to black people about some of the things that we hide behind. Our wounds.
In order for us to grow we have to be able to sit down and communicate for a solution. I wanted to tell dads that you have to stop using the excuse that you didn’t have a dad and just do better for your kids. I wanted to talk about black on black crime. I wanted to be very frank with them.
In the end it doesn’t have anything to do with you being caucasian and me being african american…thats just us being PEOPLE. When you learn how to love people for who they are and what they stand for, then we can just come together.

I’m excited about my skin color. The best I can do is show people who God created me to be”.

“You are creating whatever you’re doing to be seen or heard….ya gotta have people who come out to support you. it’s not necessarily about buying something. You don’t have to buy anything. But if 100 people come and tell me ‘Hey the show looked great’, thats cool too”.

“What is my purpose? Oh man. You know.. whether or not you believe thats something given to you by God or whatever…I think I've made my purpose….being supportive, I think. I’ve got a lot of people in my life that I try really hard to be there for. I’m a musician and I chose the role of being a bass player…that’s not like…out in the front. That’s a supportive role, musically speaking. I think that shows in a lot of different parts of my life”.
