The Milky Way and a good helping of airglow hovers over Diamond Rock on the north end of Ennis Lake in Montana. If you zoom all the way in on the mountains on the left side of the image you can see Lone Peak in Big Sky in the background.

The sky is made up of a stack of images shot at f1.8, 13 seconds, at ISO 6400 and the foreground is one single exposure at f2.8, 180 seconds, and ISO 3200. Processed in Lightroom and blended in Photoshop.

For some reason I completely forgot about the Sturgeon Moon Eclipse while it was happening. I was politely reminded by a friend and got outside to check it out at the peak which was amazing. I watched for a while and then decided I should probably take a few pics.

By the time I got my camera set up the clouds started to roll in. I can't say that I am unhappy about it. I'm really digging a bunch of these cloudy eclipse images and I think they are actually more interesting with the clouds. I only got a few more minutes though until the clouds completely enveloped the moon for the night.

Realized I still had some images to process from my night spent at Ennis Lake earlier this summer. This is another shot of the Milky Way over Diamond Rock which sits close to the shore on the north end of Ennis Lake. The Airglow was pretty strong this night.

The sky is made up of a stack of images shot at 8 seconds, iso 8000, f1.8 and the foreground is a single exposure captured at f2.8, iso 3200, and 90 seconds.

Processed in Lightroom and blended together in Photoshop.

Another night shot from the ghost town of Bannack in Montana. I came away with way more shots than I initially thought considering we only had like an hour and a half window to shoot in.

Stacked sky. Single exposure for the foreground. Processed in Lightroom and blended in Photoshop.

Here's another one from Bannack Ghost Town in Montana. This image was captured fairly shortly after sunset so it was not quite true dark yet. That is one of the amazing things about Montana though. Even with the sun still lighting the sky a bit you can see millions of stars.

The sky was stacked and the foreground was a single long exposure. Processed in Lightroom and blended in Photoshop.

All of these images are from a little after midnight on July 4, 2026 on the outskirts of Bozeman, MT.

There are no street lights in my area. The light and shadows you are seeing in these images is from a full moon that had just risen a few minutes before these images were captured. It was cool that the lights were bright enough to be seen even with the moon fully lighting up the foregrounds for me.

Had some fun in the morning at the Bannack Campground watching chipmunks run around camp collecting pine nuts for breakfast. Cute little buggers.
