From engagement photos, to their wedding day, to attending Taylor’s baby shower, and now getting to photograph this chapter. 🥹 Somewhere along the way, these two stopped feeling like clients and just became friends. Texting each other life updates, to random stories that we need to tell each other, to them being so supportive of me during some of my hardest days. I am forever grateful for you guys.

I’ve started and deleted this caption more times than I can count because I still don’t really know how to put any of this into words.

A little over two weeks ago, my entire world changed when I unexpectedly lost my mama.

She wasn’t just my mom. She was my best friend. The person who was always there. The person I could call about absolutely anything. She was kind, loving, funny, and one of those people who made everyone around her feel cared for.

The last few weeks have been the hardest of my life. I’ve been back and forth to New York, going through memories, cleaning out her apartment, packing up photos, clothes and pieces of her life into boxes, and somehow trying to process the fact that she’s actually gone.

And now I’m home.

I’m trying to figure out what life looks like from here. How to go back to work. How to find some kind of normal when absolutely nothing feels normal right now.

If you’re one of my couples waiting on an email, a gallery, or anything from me, thank you. Truly. The patience, grace, love and understanding I’ve been given throughout all of this has meant more than I could ever put into words. I’m slowly finding my way back to work and taking things one day at a time.

Photography has always been about so much more than pretty photos to me, but losing my mom has made that feel even heavier now. Photos are what I have been holding onto the tightest these past few weeks. The ordinary ones. The imperfect ones. The ones I probably didn’t think twice about when they were taken.

Because one day, they aren’t just photos anymore.

They’re everything.

I don’t really know how to end this because I don’t have some beautiful lesson or positive way to wrap up the hardest thing I’ve ever experienced.

I just really miss my mama. 🖤 I love you forever.
