Many of you have asked me why my page has been silent or why I'm not booking sessions right now, and I wanted to share a piece of my heart with you today. I have been taking time off of photography to be more present for my family, and it is a decision I am very grateful to have made. While I've missed you all, I will miss her even more.
This photograph - "In the Clouds" - is a tribute to my grandparents.

If you’ve never seen the Nubble Lighthouse in York, Maine, it is quite breathtaking. It stands just off the rocky shore, a landmark of the sea, calling to all who see it. It called to my grandparents. They adored it so much they moved to York to be closer to it. They bought a house near the beach and lived there for many happy years looking out upon this beacon from every angle. They drove by it daily. They volunteered tirelessly at the gift shop, on the committee for the park, and at all of the lighthouse-related events. If you ever went to the Christmas lighting of the Nubble, my grandma probably handed you hot chocolate and my grandpa made the music you were hearing possible. They were fixtures there, right next to their cherished lighthouse.
I took this photograph of my grandparents’ beloved Nubble Lighthouse on the day of my grandfather’s memorial service last year. It was bitterly cold and my tears were freezing on my face, but I felt him there - in the clouds. I watched my son joyfully play on the rocks with my husband knowing my grandpa was with us there. My grandmother spent the past year talking to my grandfather outside - in the clouds. She missed him deeply, as we all do, but we were thankful to be given the gift of more time together with her here in New Jersey.
On Tuesday morning, she was called to heaven to be with him there - in the clouds.
The Nubble Lighthouse now has another guardian from above. If you’re ever there, looking out at their lighthouse, please enjoy its beauty, as they have for so many years, and send up a little love their way. We know they will be watching.
