On Friday, I took a day of only yoga & stretching, and felt amazing! This weekend I redid my entire workout plan to prioritize one day a week of yoga & stretching.
Oh yes, I was cussing you during in my first ever class. I was expecting to feel sore the next day from that glute work, but I didn’t. Ok, I’m a believer!
I am loving morning mobility classes, so I had to take this new one. It did not disappoint!
I brushed up on my biomechanics with to work on my always-tight hips. This one was super unique with focus on activating my feet.
I rounded it out with fabulous restorative yoga class to settle it all down.
Of course, I capped off the day with a sleep meditation to send me off to sleep.
I am prioritizing me in 2024 with one day of yoga & stretching. Thanks for the inspiration & reminder!

Wow today’s run took me down a peg! I decided it would make December fun to get Covid right after my 5K + Half Marathon on 12/4. Yeah, weee, that was SO fun!
I had done one endurance, easy pace run last week, but today started a new running challenge. We had our choice of a distance test or a progression run, and yeah I knew I wasn’t ready for a distance test today. So, here we go progression run! I could barely get out of my easy pace range, but I just kept running and kept inching my pace forward. While I didn’t meet the training plan, I’m still calling it a win because I met my body where it was while still pushing it to get just a little better.
That has been a HUGE learning curve for me. I’m a rule-follower, so to respect where my body was following this awful illness & not push too hard was a major milestone for me. I also didn’t quit when I knew I couldn’t do the plan. I did my best, and guess what: that was good enough!
Thank you, for pushing me today! You said you needed us in the run at the end, but I sure needed you today! Thank YOU!!!!

In 2023, I struggled with getting a good night’s sleep, so I started experimenting with different things. I found something that worked for me:
1. Get myself in a more relaxed mindset by doing a Full Body Stretch + a Restorative Yoga. If I’m sore from a previous workout, I’ll add another stretch or a Focus Flow yoga. I will confess that there were a couple of times that I fell asleep on the floor during my yoga. My two favorites are 15 min restorative yoga from 4/26/23, particularly after a tough run, & Calm Full Body stretch from 5/26/21. He also has a series of Evening stretches that are perfect for before bed!
2. Read a couple of chapters in Kindle (no phone!)
3. Finish with a meditation or sleep story. I love most of the sleep meditations, but this one by is a fav! I also use the app and love the variety of their sleep stories.

For me, I usually catch and miss most because I prefer to go to sleep. Can’t say I’m complaining about the sunrises!

How are you prioritizing yourself? What time are you seeing aside for yourself? I've heard those questions for many years, but for whatever reason I thought it had to be some monumental effort. One day I realized it didn't need to be something huge, just something I could do every day that is 100% for me. I chose hydration, exercise, & meditation. What will you choose?
