CLEVELAND (5/1/2024) -- It has been a transformational year for the University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse team as six Titans were honored for their accomplishments by the Mid-American Conference which announced their postseason awards on the eve of the conference championship.

Today we celebrate senior athlete’s. We are most proud of ours. has always been a record setter, always striving to play/do better than she did the day before. She began her lacrosse career in 2015, when we moved to Brighton, after playing 11 years of soccer. Her talent was immediately recognized and she was given the midfield position on the Brighton travel team where she consistently scored every game. At the age of 14 she was approached by the woman’s lacrosse coach and offered a scholarship to play. Once in high school she was the only freshman selected to be on the Varsity team where she held that position all four years. The Brighton High School principal stated that she was the most decorated athlete at the school. After numerous scholarships she chose to stay close to home and play for UDMWL where she has started every game and set numerous records. Today we are honored to celebrate you You have been a true team player throughout your career, have been a true team player throughout your career, playing hard and staying humble. Your family is so proud of you! This really is a bittersweet moment. We’ve loved watching you on the field and know without a doubt that will continue to reach goals throughout your adult life!

Tomorrow’s game day! If you’re looking for something to do, come cheer on the women’s lax team and former BHS top lacrosse player (2016-2020), Cat Kopchia, in Detroit. Cat was nominated again as MAC’s Offensive Player of the Week, and will reach her 100th goal the first time she hits the back of the net! Game time is 1:00 at Titan Field (4001 Mc Nichols) and admission is FREE! More game info included in the comments. Hope to see familiar faces in the stands!

CLEVELAND (4/2/2024) -- Prior to the start of today's game against Arizona State, senior Cat Kopchia was honored for the second time this season as the Mid-American Conference's Offensive Player of the Week.

I went back to visit my old hometown. What I miss the most though is the backdrops. Didn’t matter where I drove, I always found an awesome photo op. I took a lot of senior portraits at this spot. This time I took a pic of what I’ve found to be my favorite pastime. She doesn’t have a name, but I love her.
