Cleveland Photographic Society

Cleveland Photographic Society Cleveland Photographic Society since 1887 CPS has operated continuously since 1887, making us one of the oldest camera clubs in North America.

For over 125 years, CPS has grown and adapted, embracing new techniques and technologies - and remains vibrant and active. CPS does not specialize in any one photographic discipline, instead educating and encouraging its members to explore all subjects and types of photography. While the majority of members have converted to digital formats, film enthusiasts remain an active minority. We currently

have over 500 members and are one of only a very few clubs to have our own permanent clubroom. These facilities allow CPS to conduct a Photo School three times each year featuring sessions on Fundamentals of Good Photography, Photoshop Elements Photo Editing, Photoshop Lightroom and a variety of informational and educational programs. CPS meets almost every Friday night throughout the year.

Fun With Architectural Photography-Tips & Tricks

Stuart Pearl - In Person

Friday, July 3 at 7:30 pm

What is the best way to create unique, memorable architectural photography? This Power Point will touch upon various technical aspects that are essential for creating good images as well as the more subjective and inspirational aspects that can inform the photographer’s eye. Do we have an iconic image, or even a favorite muse that has influenced our style over the years? The presentation will touch upon the more creative viewpoints that go beyond the dry technical guidelines that are the foundation of skilled photography. Whether you are an avid beginner or professional, these images should appeal to something in your imaginative nature.

No day of show pickups.

As you make your transportation and arrival plans, we want to alert you to a small but important change: Due to a variety of logistical reasons, gates will close at 2:30 p.m. There will be no entry/re-entry after that time.
Gates open at 9:00 a.m. We know that the vast majority of our guests (customers?) arrive early in the day to enjoy the entire show, but occasionally, there are a few latecomers. If someone in your group falls into this category, please make sure they are aware that the gates will close at 2:30 p.m. This includes both the parking lot and the walk-in gate.
If you need additional parking (only available in advance, no on-site sales) or have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to Liz Harmath ([email protected]) or call the office at 216.781.0747.

Thanks to for sharing photos of The Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014, the world’s largest operating steam locomotive. Big Boy was in Cleveland as part of a nationwide tour to celebrate America’s 250th birthday. This historic 133-foot-long engine is making several free whistle stops across the state in June and July 2026.

The Exhibits Program offers CPS members the opportunity to have their work displayed in a public venue. We collaborate with local libraries, institutions, galleries and businesses to create exhibits that fit their theme and share our love of photography.

Exhibits are announced on the website and in the Weekly Snapshot. Entries are judged by a trained Photographic Society of America (PSA) professional, with the highest-scoring images being selected for the exhibit.

We are always excited to work with new venues. If you know of a venue interested in an event, please email the Exhibits Chair with the venue’s contact at [email protected].

Call For Entries -

Suburban Symphony Orchestra

Submittal dates: June 15 through July 29

A Collaboration with Suburban Symphony Orchestra: We have been invited by the Suburban Symphony Orchestra to display our photographs digitally during one of their concerts this fall. While this is not a traditional exhibit, it is a great opportunity to showcase your work in front of over 300 audience members. You may also physically display your work before and after the show, as well as at intermission. The show is performed at Beachwood High School. The images will guide the audience through the story of the musical pieces. The call for entries will follow the depictions of the music and will be specific. The concert date is not yet determined, but it will take place this fall. Each CPS member may submit up to 2 images. When submitting your image, please indicate the musical piece for which it should be displayed. For more details and to see the list of musical pieces.
