Twenty-four hours. That's how much work time I saved my clients last month, just by using the Evergreen Team Photo instead of the old "get everyone in a room" approach.

Case in point: AO Handy hired Tony, and instead of scheduling a whole new group shoot, he came in on his own, got his headshot taken, and now he's in the lineup like he's always been there.

Nobody lost an afternoon. Nobody had to be chased down. The team just quietly stayed current.

Yes, that moody wine and cheese situation was made on a folding table. Next to a cardboard box. On conference room carpet that has seen some things.

That's the secret of this whole job...the camera only shows what I point it at. Good light, a little patience, and a folding table becomes a still life.

Honestly? It's a decent metaphor for life. Everything polished has a bit of messy clutter sitting just outside the frame.

(For those concerned about the well being and safety of the props, they got eaten. Obviously.)

What's the number one thing people say to me before a headshot session?

"I'm not going to be good at this."

Elisa Ruer said some version of it too. She's a local attorney, she needed new headshots, and she walked in with the same nerves almost everyone brings through my door.

But she also walked in knowing exactly what she wanted: simple, clean, black and white. So that's what we did. Black blazer, white shirt, four backgrounds that get out of her way. (And she didn't ask for them, but I also sent her black and white versions of every image too.)

The nerves? She pushed those aside and trusted me. Chin here. Shoulders there. Breathe. I promise, I'll walk you through every bit of it.

Every single frame looks like someone you'd want on your side of a case. And the best part - SHE is glad she did it.

Have you ever walked into a store and just...stopped?

That was me at Shabahang Rug Gallery.

Hand-knotted rugs hanging floor to ceiling. Stacks of them waist-high. Colors I don't have names for. And when you get close (you will get close), the detail in every single knot is truly stunning. The quality and workmanship in that showroom is something you have to see in person. My photos don't do it justice, and I'm the one who took them.

Then there's Bruce Shabahang, the owner, who might be the NICEST guy in Brookfield. He's already invited me back for Turkish coffee. Bruce, I'm taking you up on that. Soon. :)

Did you know Kohl's has a corporate dentist?

Now you do. Meet Jacob Scholz, and yes, that smile is exactly what you'd hope for from a dentist. (I can't take credit for it. I just lit it well! 📸)

Jacob needed a headshot ready for anything, so we ran one session across three looks: classic gray, traditional portrait, and navy. Same Jacob, three backgrounds, whatever the moment calls for.

Congrats on the new role, Jacob. Kohl's smiles are in good hands.

Have you seen the September issue of Brookfield City Lifestyle yet? It's the Style Issue and it's safe to say that I'm completely in love with this cover. 💍

Just look at that sparkle! These rings are stunning enough on their own, but stacked together like that with the light catching every stone? I could drool over this, I mean, stare at this all day.
