Exercise your civic duty and vote in the upcoming election. Last year 16% of the registered voters turned out. That means that only 16% of the people are helping decide what happens in our city. That’s not right. Get out and vote.

A very nice lady approached me at the Brookings Arts Festival in July and asked if I was a Veteran. I said yes and she asked if I had a Quilt of Valor. When I answered no she said, “ I’ll make you one.” Well, she stopped by today and presented me with a beautiful quilt. One side is a waving flag and the other is all stars. It is even quilted with red, white and blue thread. Accepting this very detailed work of art was very moving for me. Thank you Mary Donegan. I will cherish this gift forever.
