A Study of Light and Movement 🤍

Not every session is created with an end goal in mind. Sometimes it’s about creating, experimenting, and following inspiration wherever it leads.

For this session, I wanted to explore movement, light, styling, and movement—watching how they worked together to create something soft, timeless, and full of life.

These creative studies help me grow as an artist and continue refining the way I photograph women and motherhood. My hope is to create portraits that feel both meaningful and beautiful.

My work has always leaned toward connection and storytelling, and now, it’s time to bring film into that story. Since I was young, like most artists and photographers, I’ve always admired the timeless beauty of film, and now I’ll be weaving it into the moments I create. I can’t wait to share that with y’all! Even the rough parts of the initial experience while I get the hang of doing film, and editing lol

Before almost every motherhood session, I hear things like:

“My child is really shy.”
“They probably won’t smile.”
“My kids are crazy, I’m sorry in advance.” 🤍

And every single time, I want moms to know — you truly do not need to apologize.

Children are meant to move, explore, laugh, cling to you, run away from you, and sometimes do all of those things within five minutes. That’s childhood, and honestly, I never expect perfection from them.

My sessions are not built around forcing children to stand still and smile at the camera the entire time. They’re built around connection, movement, and allowing your family to simply be together.

Yes, I’ll guide you when needed, but so much of the magic comes from the in-between moments — the giggles, the cuddles, the hand holding, the chasing, and the way your children naturally look at you when they feel safe and loved.

So if you’ve ever worried your session won’t turn out because your little ones are “too wild” or “too shy,” I promise you’re not alone.

Some of the most meaningful photographs come from simply letting children be children!

Photographing this sweet family through three different seasons of their lives has been such an honor 🤍

We first met back in 2024, then again after their baby was born last year, and now this spring for blossom minis.

One of my favorite things about returning families is how much trust and comfort naturally grows over time. We’re no longer strangers meeting for the first time, which allows everyone to simply relax, be themselves, and enjoy these moments together.

There’s something really special about documenting a family’s story as it continues to grow, and I’m so grateful they’ve invited me back time and time again 🤍
