Marissa and Dave got married at the Aero Diner in North Windham, under the airplane on the roof.

The big wedding is in Jamaica this November. This was the real one. An officiant, a couple of milkshakes, and Bella, the dog Marissa brought over from Europe, who couldn't make the flight.

Dave's an aeronautical engineer, so a diner with a plane on top was kind of non-negotiable. They wanted it small, a little retro, and not a single stiff pose. They got the veil blowing sideways, sunglasses in a red booth, and her laughing mid-toast.

The WPJA picked it for a Wedding Elopement award, which was a nice surprise.

Lindsey and Joe had a hell of a wedding day. From getting ready at an air BnB by the water to Our Lady of Fatima for the ceremony, and ending at The Grand Oak Villa for the reception, it was non stop moments.

Your photographer showing up 1-3 hours before your ceremony starts isn’t enough time.

And it’s true.

Because rushing makes for the absolute worst photographs there are.

Hair and makeup can run late.
Transportation can run late.
Things get misplaced.

If your photographer only plans the hours the day needs around photos they are “supposed” to take, none of that has anywhere to go-and neither does the stuff nobody planned.

Your dad seeing you dressed.
Your friends screwing around.
Someone crying who didn’t expect to.

Honestly, I would rather start at 10am for a 4pm ceremony than show up at 2 and rush you through the whole day.

Start earlier. Have more time. Let the wedding happen.

That’s how you go from having your wedding, to experiencing your wedding.

Some weddings you photograph. Others you live alongside the couple.

Terrance and Emma’s day at The Society Room in Hartford was the second kind.

I walked into the getting-ready room at The Sea Tea Comedy Theater and Emma was transferring her vows into her vow book. Moments later Terrence joined her as they both shared the couch. Using a Dead by Daylight board game box as a writing table.

Y’all, if you’re not getting ready together in the morning…you not fully living your day!

Zero nerves and all the love.

This is what I mean when I talk about live your day. They didn’t manage the wedding. They were in it. They trusted their people, their vendors, and the day itself.

Real is always going to be better than perfect.

Your wedding day is going to feel rushed. And it’s not the day’s fault.

There’s a version of your wedding day already playing in your head.

You. Your partner. Your people. Music you actually want to hear.

The one where you spend the whole day following someone else’s directions.

Which means the photographer shows up with a spreadsheet of images they need to collect.

What you get back is a gallery of two people behaving like they’re being photographed.

Not two people living through the biggest day of their lives.

The moment is the whole point.
Not a photographer in your face every 30 minutes going “stand here, now here, chin down.”

The way your mom holds back tears during your vows. That’s the photo. Not a random ass field at sunset.
You should be AT your wedding.

Not getting pulled out of it.
