This is my wife btw… So she deserves being looked after to this level… Though I do the same for my clients. Often fixing tiny things that no one will ever notice I did. But that’s kinda the point of good retouching… The eternally invisible labor. Which my wife also knows all too well. Can I convince you to follow me with just ONE photo? This is my daughter in Central Park. Shot handheld at 1/30th of a second. No flash. Just playing with the light and creating something I couldn’t love more! But here’s the funny bit… I probably never would’ve gone to the effort of creating this photo if it wasn’t for Humble Togs Club. Turns out building a community for photographers who aren’t jerks to each other has made me want to get out and create more too. Funny how surrounding yourself with other creative people does that. 💛 So… did the one photo earn the follow? 😂

I’d never worked with Giuseppina before, but she booked me in Melbourne recently for a new set of headshots — and we absolutely went to town.

She’s an opera singer with a powerhouse voice, a beautiful personality and an even bigger heart!

We played with different backgrounds, fabrics, outfits and ideas to give her a really varied portfolio of images she can use across her online presence.

Most importantly, I wanted her to walk away feeling like an opera/rock star and looking and feeling like a million bucks.

🚨 HOLY S**T. WE DID IT. 🚨 Humble Togs Club just hit the NUMBER 1 position on Skool for the search term “photo”!! And we’re rank 3 for “photography.” 🤯 What a bloody ride the last 16 months has been. What started as a pretty simple idea, “what if we made a photography community where people weren’t jerks to each other?”, has turned into a genuinely amazing group of photographers from all over the world. And right now it feels like we’re pumping more than ever. More conversations. More learning. More support. And new members joining every day. When I was starting the club, someone actually told me that what I was trying to build couldn’t be done. “Photographers are all inherently jerks to each other”, they said. My response at the time? “Hold my b**r.” 🍺 Well… I think I’ll have that b**r back now. In a chilled glass, thanks. 🤩🫰🍺

Sometimes all we need to create headshots like these is a walkway to a donut shop…

…and about 7 minutes.

I photographed my old friend Luke Rogers while we were on our way to grab a coffee and a donut. No elaborate setup. No hours of overthinking or complex lighting setups. Just good natural light, an old mate and the promise of baked goods at the finish line.

Now ai think of it, why doesn’t every headshot session I do have a donut deadline. 🍩

Some people join a photography community for support.

Apparently I joined for the full-volume shampoo-commercial hair makeover 💇♂️💄.

I screwed up. A tech glitch/human error on my end meant Adam Player’s headshots sat undelivered for over a month.

When Adam checked in, wondering how much longer it would be, my stomach dropped.

I owned it, apologized, and made it right with a couple of extra images on the house and got straight to retouching his waylaid order.

Running a creative business isn’t about never messing up. It’s about how you show up when you do.

Thanks Adam for your patience and grace on this and cheering like mad for your next opera performance!!! 🎭 🎤🤴
