Lena Dunham for People Magazine.

Part of the fun of being a photographer is never knowing what the next assignment will be. When People reached out about photographing Lena Dunham with her pigs Victor and Cherry, I was definitely in. Lena managed to define my generation of millennials with her writing directing & acting. Girls captured such a specific version of Williamsburg/Greenpoint/Bushwick that so many of us lived through in our 20s, and I will always be thankful that it exists.

I grew up in the midwest where having pot belly piglets as pets was pretty normal. I always wanted one. All I can say is that Lena is living my dream with her pet mini-pigs. They did manage to eat some of our catering (I guess we should have ordered them some extra!) but all in all were pretty adorable and dog-like throughout the shoot. Many thanks to Jessica Bryan for having me, Lena and her team for welcoming us in, and to all of our fab crew for a beautiful day. I’m excited to read Famesick!

A dream assignment - going to the home of Suleika Jaouad and Jon Batiste for . Their 200 year old farmhouse has artist studios for each of them, gorgeous gardens, a camper van, and plenty of dogs. I was in my happy place there - so much quiet and peace, beautiful artwork, and vintage pieces. It was warm and cozy and inviting. We also got treated to a lot of singing by Jon Batiste 🙌 Check out the full story in the latest issue of Garden & Gun. The story is written by Suleika. Enjoy! ❤️❤️❤️

I recently photographed punk rock icon and writer Richard Hell for The New York Times. He moved into his rent-stabilized East Village tenement in 1974 and has lived there ever since.

It was incredible to see such a beautiful space, untouched and not gut renovated by a landlord or developer. Richard’s home is packed with books, poetry, photographs, and art. He described the apartment’s “dominant message” as simply that the person who lives there likes books, and the shelves really do take over nearly every wall.

I read his memoir prior to the photo shoot and highly recommend it to those who want a glimpse into another era of New York and what Richard’s life was like when he landed here.

Thank you to Richard for welcoming us in and for sharing all your stories. Thank you to for the assignment.

Clementine
Adopted March 2014 – February 12, 2026
Estimated age 14–18

I’m heartbroken to share that we said goodbye to Clementine two weeks ago.

She had many old-dog issues — arthritis, dementia, adrenal tumors, and incontinence. She declined slowly over the past year, and in some ways that made it harder. The dog we once knew gradually drifted away. We’d get small glimmers of her old self, but they became harder to find.

Clementine had personality from the start. The first night we fostered her, she howled (the only time she ever did), pooped in her crate, and when I panicked and let her out, she spread it all over the apartment. Despite that chaotic beginning, she won us over with her big eyes, long ears, and charm.

She came to us as a rescued puppy mill mom from with a lot of anxiety. At first she only trusted me, but she soon bonded deeply with Florent. Over the years she grew braver and more comfortable, eventually becoming everyone’s favorite at the dog park.

She loved dogs, humans, cheese, and pets. She had that classic basset scent (they smell like rice), which drove other dogs wild — she was often chased for attention. Her perfect day was running on a chilly beach or sleeping in the sun. She loved belly rubs, hugging, and occasionally serving as our ottoman. For a scent hound, she was never particularly good at finding things — and she never helped us solve any crimes.

Thank you to everyone who cared for her and got to see the best versions of her.

I’m thankful for the 12 years we had with Clementine and for the joy she brought to our family, friends, and neighborhood. We went on so many trips together, and she inspired a lot of my photo projects. She even had her own Spotify playlist. We’ll miss you, Clem. I hope there’s plenty of string cheese for you on the other side.

Tia the Sharpei, from my book Cone of Shame. Her cone is made of surgical tubing, and it was created to mimic the iconic folds of a sharpei’s fur. The challenge we had when casting for this portrait was to find an adult sharpei that had retained his/her folds. Most sharpei puppies are super wrinkly, but then as they grow up, their folds become less noticeable. When we saw Tia, we knew she was the pup for the book! Always a fun strange challenge when casting for dogs 🐾

At home with Kathleen Chalfant, photographed for The New York Times. She and her husband - artist Henry Chalfant - share a Brooklyn Heights brownstone that is gorgeous, warm, and filled with beautiful art. They have been married 60 years and lived in this space since 1994. They are both the loveliest kind of New Yorkers - talented, smart, and kind, and they have continually opened their home up to host young artists and friends. I think you will enjoy every corner of this home, I certainly did! Thank you Kathleen and Henry for welcoming us in, and thank you to for the assignment. Words by Addie Morfoot 🤍

I photographed Ryan Serhant for Netflix’s Season 2 poster of Owning Manhattan. It’s been so fun to see the ads all around NYC in Times Square (!!!) and on wild postings. I binged season 2 over the holidays, and it’s the perfect way to peep into all those luxury buildings you’ve been wondering about. Thank you to Ryan, everyone at Serhant, and Netflix for having me.

I recently photographed the one and only Martha Plimpton at her beautiful Brooklyn home for . After decades in a rent-stabilized Upper West Side apartment, this house became her first home purchase and was a true dream come true. As she prepares to leave New York for London, she shared the space one last time with us. A large detached Victorian, the home is filled with natural light from all sides. She lived there on her own but welcomed many guests into the space. Martha calls it “The Martha Plimpton House for Wayward Women and Divorcées” 😂 Filled with vintage treasures and mementos, and an inherited Frank Lloyd Wright side table (!!!), we all immediately felt at home in her place.

Thank you for welcoming us in, and thank you to for the assignment. Martha, New York will miss you!

The family behind Georgian bistro for 💜💜💜

We had the best time at Cheeseboat with Kate “Mama Cheeseboat” and her 2 kids Maria and Shako. If you have never tried a cheeseboat run on over to one of their 2 locations in NYC now - it’s the perfect winter food to warm you up! I am dreaming of one now. Omg they are so good. I am thankful these holidays for cheese and bread and specifically cheese melted into bread shaped like a boat.

As the year comes to a rapid end, I want to share a few of my favorite stories from this year. I photographed this stunning home outside of NYC for Travis Grimm Interiors. The property is quite large and historic and Travis maintained many original details, while keeping the whole space elegant, elevated and intimate. I loved learning about the history of the home and how Travis and his team transformed it into the beauty she is today.
