Jackie Neale is a New York | Philadelphia based portrait photographer, artist, producer, and author with a focus on using historical, traditional, digital and experimental processes for multimedia documentary portrait projects. Jackie is most well known for her work in social activism chronicling the experience of Immigration in the U.S. and Europe in her work, C

rossing Over: Immigration Stories, cultural assimilation in Bullet the Blue Sky, a Pandemic reckoning of the human condition in I'm Sorry | I Love You | Thank You, a foreshadowing of the eradication of Women's Rights in the US, 45th presidency era and after, in A Woman's Right, and her work of over 800 photographs taken over 7 years of the NYC quotidian underground subway for a resulting monograph, ‘zines and multimedia exhibitions and lectures on, . Jackie’s pedigree is as Senior Imaging and Photography Director of award-winning Metropolitan Museum of Art Online Feature Productions: The Artist Project, 82nd and Fifth, MetCollects, One Met. Many Worlds, The Heilbrunn Timeline of Art History, and Connections, and now as undergraduate faculty of two prestigious colleges, New York Film Academy in NYC and Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia. Additionally, Jackie has since opened Big Day Film Collective, a film and experimental photographic gallery in Greater Philadelphia. She presents her artworks and lectures for international audiences such as Paris College of Art’s Blurring the Lines Photography Conference, European Cultural Centre Academy Biennale 2019 in Venice, Italy, and Six Feet Photography. Jackie is continuing her alternative processes multimedia social documentary on immigration and human rights in Fall 2022 where she will be partnering with NGOs in Malta on artist residency at Spazju Kreattiv. Wide Awake In Blue, Jackie Neale - 60 Large-Scale Cyanotype Textiles Oeuvre and an exhibition of Portraits and Behind the Scenes in the Balcony Gallery. Make sure to attend it on January 9, 2026 or visit during January 9–March 1, 2026

Wide Awake In Blue is a museum‑scale, socially urgent project that is conceptually rigorous with formally inventive photographic artworks culminating from three bodies of work; Crossing Over: Immigration Stories, Common Ground Tacony, and We The People Are The Wide Awakes. Exhibited in parts in the past in Venice Biennale collateral events, European Cultural Centre , Louisiana Biennial, 20/20 Photo Festival , Halide Project , The New School New York , Governors Island, with institutional support from , Moxie Professional Development, Mural Arts , Mission EDC, the Vilcek Foundation and U.S. Embassy Malta (...and more), this exhibition, January 9–March 1, 2026 in Philadelphia, will run as the first full, immersive U.S. presentation of the entirety of these projects, with sound, textiles, and programming focused on immigration and human rights. Wide Awake In Blue is a museum‑scale, socially urgent project that is conceptually rigorous with formally inventive photographic artworks culminating from Neale’s three bodies of work; Crossing Over: Immigration Stories, Common Ground Tacony, and We The People Are The Wide Awakes. The entire textile oeuvre will be on view. 60 textiles plus portraits and photographs from out in the field.

Exhibited in parts in the past in Venice Biennale collateral events, European Cultural Centre, Society of Photographic Education Northeast, New York University, New York’s Photoville, Merion Gallery, Saint Joseph’s University, Louisiana Biennial, 20/20 Photo Festival, Photo LA, Giardini della Marinaressa, Stella Elkins Tyler Gallery, Halide Project, The New School New York, Governors Island, with institutional support from Moxie Professional Development, Mural Arts Philadelphia, Spazju Kreattiv, Mission EDC|CEED, the Vilcek Foundation and U.S. Embassy Malta ...and more, this exhibition, January 9–March 1, 2026 in Philadelphia, will run as the first full, immersive U.S. presentation of the entirety of these projects, with sound, textiles, and programming focused on immigration and human rights.
