6 years of Photodom. What started as an idea I had back in college has become a real destination — a place for photographers who wanted more than just a camera shop.

Along the way, we’ve hosted workshops and classes that brought people into the studio, into the craft, and into each other’s lives. That community is everything this was supposed to be about.

Building this as a Black business owner in Brooklyn came with real challenges especially in spaces that weren’t built with us in mind. But every step forward made Photodom stronger and more rooted in who we are.

To the team, past and present — thank you for pouring yourselves into this. To our customers — thank you for showing up, trusting us, and building this with us.

Here’s to 6 years, and to year 7. 📸

October 2020 in the original room that would become Photodom.

Our first yard sale was a little more than we expected but it was one for the books!

Thank you for your support. Love always.

“Nwanne M Nwaanyi means “sister” in my mother tongue, Igbo. Come join me in this visual love letter to all my sisters of blood and beyond.”

Chiemeka Offor is a Nigerian-American image maker based in NYC. Her practice explores poetic visual storytelling and performance, centering the lives and legacies of the African diaspora. She molds communal narratives through autofiction and phantasmagoria, often using self-portraits to emphasize our individual roles in collective healing.

Her first ever solo Exhibition with .nyc opens Friday, September 4th from 6-9 pm. Be ready and open to experience the work weaved across the walls, live Yoruba spoken word reading by Teniola Ode and an instrumental composition by Kailyn Williams.

Thank you to eveyone for showing out to our 2026 team exhibition “Home”! 🗺️

This year we wanted to define what home means to us through film + tangible materials. We transformed our storefront to represent all of the moments and people that inspired us to become the artists we are today. 🎞️

We are so grateful to the unique lens from each member of our team — who show up daily to reignite that same creativity to every person who comes through our doors. 🖤

And most importantly, we are grateful for y’all! Celebrating our 206 exhibition with our favorite community of artists made it that much more special! 🙌

“Home” will be up until Sept 1st — come through to check it out if ya haven’t yet! 👋

Submissions are still open for our PUBLIC ZINE VOL. 3 — make sure to submit by August 31st for your chance to be published in our 2026 edition! 📘

Every year we publish a free, community driven publication featuring work from photographers and image makers around the world. Whether you shoot film, digital, mixed media, alternative processes, editorial, documentary, or something entirely your own, we want to see what you’ve been creating.

This year’s edition is presented in partnership with KEH Camera, who share our belief that great photographs aren’t defined by the newest gear, but by the vision behind it. Your perspective matters more than what’s in your camera bag.

Selected artists will be featured in Public Zine Vol. 3, distributed to our global photography community.

🗓️ Submissions close August 31st.

Head to the link in our bio to submit your work! 🙌
