Select scenes from my 2017 hard drive - it’s incredible to look back on images with fresh eyes that I made so long ago. I remember being so green back then, just as awed by wedding spaces as I am now yet unmoored. I didn’t know yet my artistry. I see a through line through the imagery I made then and what guides me now - a focus on movement, highlighting imperfections, hunting for the feeling of it all, inspired by chaos, trying to create a lasting record, an admiration for the collective whole of a wedding space, a sense of freedom. I’m still just as obsessed with weddings now as I was then, even more so as I’ve gotten older and experienced more of life and realized that the ability to gather and love, thats really the best part of living.

I’ve been working on a rebrand. After shooting weddings for nearly 10 years, I feel that I’ve evolved as a person and a brand as much as my work has. So I’ve been working with one of my favorite designer ever to reinvent the brand around who I am now. There’s going to be a name change and design elements and website stuff for sure. But for now it’s been all about exploring the meaning behind the brand through conversation and lots of writing. We’ve been circling around the word “warm-blooded”, which is how I think of gatherings and weddings and people, it’s sensory, communicates humanity over style, evokes aliveness which is what I am drawn to, I think of individual photographs having a heartbeat.

I’ve been going through my body of work over the last 10 years. Sooooooo many hard drives. These are images I made in 2018, when I was largely second shooting. I was 22. It’s been really fun to revisit and I wanted to share.

A film edit of J & K’s garden nuptials at . It was the perfect summers day, warm yet crisp, the perfect temperature to enjoy a seamless indoor/outdoor tented reception. The bride’s reception look made all our jaws drop. Another wonder crew for the books on this one!

“Let’s get purple” the groom said in his reception speech.

I fall in love every weekend. Not sure if it was the moment that they ran out into the rain hand in hand or when cocktail hour was shared atop the brides fathers vintage corvette or how she never ever left the dance floor or how many times I heard the groom say “I love you” to various guests with their faces in his hands, but I just know I found more of my tribe that weekend.

It was everything I ever hope for people to be - free, unbridled, joyous, resplendent, infatuated.

Shot most of June on Kodak Gold and I love it 🫶

We wound our way amongst Isaiah Zagars colorful mosaics in South Philly as the dappled light filtered through the trees. R & L were whimsical in front of my lens, showing me the brightness and tenderness of their relationship. It was perfect.

Give me wood paneled halls, a perfect day on the upper east side, peonies so huge you want to take a bite, that goddamn mantel, vows that make you weep, a hot dog cart to start the day, bubbly drinks in tiny glasses, as the bride whose aesthetic is to die for, with the flawless ex*****on and you’ll drive away after a pit stop at a bodega for some pineapple, just absolutely so content and enthralled with getting to photograph that type of energy.
