This might be the luckiest photo I’ve ever made. I was supposed to meet Stefan and some other peeps in Queens at this spot. I was running late and when I got there Stefan was already trying switch nosegrinds. I rushed to grab my gear throwing up two flashes and grabbing the nearest camera - an old Nikon FM2 with a 105mm manual focus lens and 400iso film in it. I didn’t have time to check my settings, not even time to focus. Stefan came rolling up and I aimed the camera and shot a picture. I watched him roll away in dismay as everyone cheered. I had no idea if he was even fully in the frame. I asked him to do a few more for good measure and he landed it again three or four tries later. When I got the film developed the first shot was the best. In focus and not terribly exposed. It was the only one where you could partially see his face which sealed the deal. Published in Skateboarder Magazine maybe around 2008ish.
