The Studio at Cedar Hill

The Studio at Cedar Hill I’m Debbie, lover of life & people. Showing you how AMAZING you are with heirloom art or albums. Empowerment Photography Education coming soon. YOU ARE AMAZING!!!

Let's capture the real you. Each person is different and to me, that is so incredible. Too often, we try to be someone we aren't, when in fact, you are the only one who can be the very best version of yourself. Showing people how beautiful they are is my goal. As the Founder of the worldwide group, Sparks of Kindness and facilitator of empowering workshops and retreats, it is very important to me

that you feel incredible after your portrait session....that you connect in a loving way with your family, remembering why you love each other so much....that you not only have beautiful portraits for a lifetime, but also realize the incredible inner qualities you have and remember that always. I love seeing that through my lens and seizing that moment for eternity. I'm Debbie McFarland. I opened The Memory Cottage in 1998, changed the name to The Studio at Daisy Hill and now my studio is called The Studio at Cedar HIll. I can't wait to hear all about you or your family and create gorgeous wall art or albums for you to cherish forever and ever. Help us change the world with love and kindness on FB at Sparks of Kindness. Ladies and girls, follow Restore to Soar on FB for upcoming life skills workshops that are so fun!!!

Do you love a girl between the ages of 9 and 12? Or do you know someone who does?

Then please keep reading, because I have been working on something incredibly important for girls at this pivotal age.

Over the years, I have created some AMAZING in-person experiences just for girls ages 9–12, including huge events, workshops, yearlong teams and camps.

Through fun, creative lessons and activities, girls have learned how to:

• Love themselves without comparing themselves to others
• Navigate friendship drama and choose healthy friendships
• Create and respect boundaries
• Recognize their unique strengths
• Use their voices and speak up for themselves
• Stand strong in what they believe
• Let their own light shine without dimming anyone else’s

Basically, all the wonderful things so many of us wish someone had taught us when we were their age!

This is important work. Ages 9-12 can be such a pivotal and transformational time in a girl’s life. She is beginning to figure out who she is, where she belongs, what she believes and how she wants to show up in the world. It is the first time she is looking outside her family's opinion to find her worth!

So many girls are having a hard time right now. They are struggling to make genuine friends, comparing themselves to everyone around them, questioning whether they are good enough, changing themselves to fit in or becoming afraid to speak up for what they believe.

But what if we could reach them during this important stage and help them discover that they are already worthy, wonderfully unique, stronger than they realize and absolutely amazing just as they are?

If I can help more girls discover those truths while they are figuring out who they are in this world...wow. That is work worth doing.

Now, I am working on something even BIGGER that will give more girls the opportunity to learn these important lessons in a way that feels creative, meaningful, and so much FUN.

Want to be in the loop and one of the very first to know what is coming?

Comment “BLOOM” below, and I’ll send you a message!

And PLEASE SHARE this post on your timeline. Even if you do not personally have a girl this age, someone you know does. Your share could help this reach a girl who truly needs it.

A few weeks ago, I went to Utah.

Why?

I went to work on a very big dream. A dream of creating something truly meaningful and life-changing for girls everywhere.

But the story of why I went actually began many years ago when my
life was changed by Melody Freebird Ross and her incredible work.

Through the retreats I attended, the courses I took and eventually becoming certified to teach her work, Melody helped me understand so much about my own worth, healing, courage, creativity and becoming who we were created to be.

What I learned from her changed me, and it planted a desire in my heart to help others discover those same truths for themselves.

That journey first led me and Darlene Dennis to help ladies through our Restore to Soar workshops. Years later, it grew into a calling to reach girls while they are still young, before the pressures and voices of the world become louder than the truth of who they are.

That is what brought me to Utah.

I went to share with Melody what I have been creating and the much bigger vision growing in my heart. In the generous way that is so completely Melody, she listened, encouraged me, shared her wisdom and experience and gave me invaluable advice about how to build something truly special for girls everywhere.

Utah was absolutely gorgeous. Everywhere I turned, there was another breathtaking view. But even more beautiful than the scenery were the genuinely wonderful people I met while I was there. The kindness, encouragement and connections made the entire experience even more meaningful.

There are moments when you can look back and suddenly see how all the pieces of your life have been quietly connecting, even when you could not see it at the time.

This was one of those moments for me.

Sweet Melody, thank you for using your own story to help so many others understand theirs. Thank you for creating spaces where people feel safe enough to heal, brave enough to grow and strong enough to remember who they truly are. Thank you for changing my life all those years ago and for now helping me find the best way to carry these truths forward to the next generation.

You have changed countless lives, including mine. And because you helped change mine, your beautiful ripple continues through every person I will be blessed to reach.

This trip was about honoring where my journey began, but it was also about dreaming, planning and preparing for where it is going next.

Something very special is beginning to bloom for girls everywhere.

If you would like to be among the first to know what I am creating, send me a message. I would love to share more with you.

A big announcement... and the beginning of an exciting new chapter!!
Sometimes you look back and realize a mission has been evolving all along.
Twenty-eight years ago, I started a photography business with one purpose...to help people see their worth and their beauty.
That mission has never changed and over the years, it has evolved.
It has led me to create portrait experiences that help people feel seen instead of judged. It has inspired community projects, fundraisers and outreach efforts that use photography as my tool to make a difference.
Seven years ago, it led me to girls ages 9 to 12, an age group that is so often overlooked just as they're beginning to question whether they're enough.
Not just outer beauty but the kind of beauty found within each person. WHen I look through my camera, I can see that and the unique story every person carries.
That journey has grown into one-on-one Tween Empowerment Experiences, workshops, journals, summer experiences, educational resources and conversations on podcasts about why this generation needs us now more than ever.
Now I'm incredibly honored to announce that I'll be speaking at the Tennessee Professional Photographers Association Fall Convention this August.
I'll also be speaking at the Massachusetts Professional Photographers Association convention and I'm currently in conversations with several other state photography associations about bringing this message to photographers across the country.
While I'll certainly be sharing why I believe tween empowerment is one of the greatest opportunities in our industry, my message is about something even bigger.
It's about building a business with purpose, serving your community in ways that matter, creating experiences that change how people see themselves.
I believe photographers don't just capture what someone looks like but we have the opportunity to help people recognize their value, celebrate their story and leave our sessions seeing themselves a little differently than when they walked in.
I'm so grateful for every client, every girl, every family, every photographer and every opportunity that has led to this next chapter. Photographers... together, we can help an entire generation!
Tennessee...I'll see you soon.

3 generations of lovely ladies came out for some sweet time together, picking flowers and catching up.

I can’t even describe the peace you feel walking around these beautiful grounds. No, this is not a fancy place. No, it’s not a polished manicured establishment with food trucks and activities. We get calls all the time asking, “What other activities do you have there to do besides picking flowers??”.

Think of going back in time to gRandma’s farm. Peace. Quiet. Simplicity.

It is just a peaceful, gorgeous place with incredible sunsets, horses coming over to the fence to say hi, butterflies galore and birds chirping.

A place to find yourself and breathe.

It is so easy to make your own gorgeous bouquet or for someone you care about. We have everything you will need. $20 to fill a large cup or $25 to fill a pitcher. Open daily 9-dark at 478 Mask Rd., Brooks - just 5 miles from Starr’s Mill or downtown Senoia.
