I was able to spend the evening with this bull elk recently. His velvet is most likely all gone by now as the rut nears. Can't wait for some bugles in the air. See you in the mountains!

This beautiful bull elk stopped on a hillside to pose briefly before he went into the meadow to gaze. I was hoping he would have been shedding by now but you can see a crack in his velvet.. so it's only a matter of time.
