Big Boy 4014 / 844 Aerial Videos

My one and only drone video of the UP 4014 for its latest trip.
My schedule didn't allow me to chase the 4014 near as much as I have on previous runs.
This was shot just east of the Hermosa Tunnel as the Big Boy returned to Cheyenne.
We got there two hours early only to be greeted by lightning and heavy rain.
The rain stopped just as Big Boy was approaching Tie Siding. Unfortunately, I only had time to get the drone in the air and didn't get a chance to make practice flights. In addition the 4014 took a different track than I was expecting.
Anyway, here it is, not my best work but given the conditions it turned out OK.

Although this video is one of our longer ones you will see a detailed view of the Big Boy as it pulls out of St. Louis.

Finally, yes, we did get approval from the FAA for this flight.

Here is an aerial shot of the 4014 in Jefferson City MO on 8/30 and 8/31/21.

The area we were flying in is in a "No Drone Zone" area. The reason being we were so close to the airport as well as the capital. However, we made a formal request to the FAA a week ahead of time and requested permission to fly. We gave them the specific area we were going to fly along with altitude limitations.

After reviewing our request the FAA approved our flights.

The Jefferson City Police were there keeping all drones on the ground. When they approached us we said we had FAA authorization. They asked to see the paperwork and once we showed it to them they said nice to see people following the rules and hope we got some great shots. Given that we were shooting into the sun we got some reasonable footage.
