Sometimes nature has other plans.

I was sitting on the deck with a friend when she pointed out a little color in the sky. It didn't look like much until I noticed the warm glow on her face.

I grabbed my camera, thinking I was chasing a sunset...

Instead, we were treated to the almost-full Strawberry Moon rising over the water.

I wasn't disappointed. πŸŒ•πŸŒ²β˜€οΈπŸŒ™

I was walking around my yard yesterday and ever since I started taking an herbalism course I've been noticing the plants around me in a whole new way. πŸŒ²β˜€οΈπŸŒ™

Have you ever noticed this growing in your yard?

This is broadleaf plantain (Plantago major). While many people think of it as just another w**d, it's been valued in traditional folk herbalism for centuries and is often called "Nature's Band-Aid" because its leaves have traditionally been used as a poultice for bug bites, bee stings, and minor scrapes.

It's amazing how learning about the plants around us can completely change the way we see them.

Is there a "w**d" you've become curious about or started looking at differently?

Just when you think you've seen the best of it, the sky changes again.

Continued from yesterday...

The sky definitely delivered. πŸŒ²β˜€οΈπŸŒ™

What started as a little color near the horizon turned into an evening filled with reflections, color, and some incredible cloud formations.

Sometimes it's worth taking a chance and heading out.

After a day of gray skies, I noticed a little light breaking through near the horizon and decided to head out.

Sometimes that's all it takes for a little magic.

More photos coming soon. πŸ‘€β˜€οΈπŸŒ™

With the Summer Solstice still fresh in the air, Sunday felt like a gift. Herbal class, a fantastic dinner with a friend that was long overdue, and a quiet stop on the way home.

Here are a few things that caught my eye along the way. πŸŒžπŸ’›

As we start a new week, here's a little good news from the natural world. 🌿

My friend Mike shared this article last week, and it was too good not to pass along.

It's about mangrove forests making a comeback after decades of decline. Stories like this remind me why I spend so much time outdoors. Nature is constantly showing us that recovery is possible.

When given the chance, nature heals.

And sometimes, so do we. πŸ’š

Swampy mangrove forests are staging a surprise comeback - which is good news for coastal communities and the climate.
