I’m excited to finally share the logo I created for Hodge Podge Performance Horses!

Every great brand starts with discovery. Shannon wanted a logo that reflected the variety of breeds and disciplines behind Hodge Podge Performance Horses while still feeling personal and uniquely hers.

Using her original sketch and a favorite photo of her heart horse as inspiration, I brought those ideas together to create a meaningful logo that represents her vision and business.

Thank you, Shannon, for trusting me to bring your vision to life! And I can't wait to continue seeing all the wonderful work you're doing!❤️

For a long time, I've wanted to go here, and I finally made it. Here is the "Road to Nowhere" (officially Lakeview Drive) in Bryson City, North Carolina: a scenic 6.5-mile dead-end road inside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It ends abruptly at a massive, dark 1,200-foot pedestrian tunnel built after the government broke its promise to replace a flooded local highway. It was a broken promise and has some really interesting history behind it.

Yesterday I judged the drawing portion for the 4-H Horse Artistic Expression contest. What a treat it was to see all the young talented artists, from 5-year-olds to High School Seniors, with over 40 submissions!

Introducing the new logo for Phoenix Equine!

Every successful brand begins with discovery—taking the time to listen, understand the client, their business, their services, and the people they serve.

Phoenix Equine envisioned a logo that was clean, timeless, and exciting while celebrating the diversity of breeds and disciplines—without using a literal phoenix. By listening first, we created a classic mark where the flowing manes subtly capture the spirit of the phoenix through movement and color.

Some of my favorite moments happen quietly on the rail—often unnoticed.

I see the partnerships that grow stronger with every show. I see the progress, the determination, and the confidence that builds one ride at a time. I see the incredible support system surrounding each rider—their family, friends, trainers, and barn family cheering them on every step of the way.

These are the moments that remind me why I love capturing this sport. 💙

If there is ever an inkling of doubt whether it takes a village or not , think again.

We have the best support team from the start of the day to the end of the day. Whether pep talking in the barn, sushi dinner circles, rail side pep talks, and generalized family like camaraderie. We all show up for each other even the out of town honorary members!

Thinking back to last June, I visited Chincoteague Island in Virginia to see the wild ponies. The Chincoteague pony, also known as the Assateague horse, is a feral American horse herd on Assateague Island in Virginia and Maryland.

They truly have a fascinating story... Legend states that Chincoteague ponies descend from Spanish horses shipwrecked off the Virginia coast on their way to Peru in the 16th century.[7]: 244–245 Another story holds that they descend from horses left on the island by pirates. Other evidence points to their ancestors actually being horses brought to the islands in the 17th century by mainland farmers.

But this year marks the 101st Chincoteague Island Pony Swim, in which the wild horses swim across the Assateague Channel when the tide is calm, allowing the young ponies to cross safely. They are then herded up in pens to be auctioned off.

An interesting fact is that you'll see each pony is branded with a number, and that number is the year they're born.
