Serendipity is what we call a happy accident. Carpe diem is all about sieving the day. Why am I talking about these things? Because this portrait would not exist without them.
Storytime: I was doing a courthouse wedding and my couple dipped inside to get their ticket number so they could be first in the lineup for marriages performed later that day. I stayed outside so I could scout a spot for more portraits. I set up my flash and started taking test shots but wanted to see how the lighting looked on a person rather than open space.
Then she walked out of the courthouse! I introduced myself to Lori and asked her to be my on the spot model to help me get my lighting setup juuuuust right for my couple. She agreed but warned me her Uber would be picking her up any moment. So we wasted no time! I literally only had time to snap a couple photos and make one adjustment, but the end result pleased us both. After I edited the photos a few weeks later I emailed her the final images.
I did not expect her reply! She shared parts of her life story and expressed how much it meant to her to be told she had helped and that she had a photo she liked so much of herself. For me, she was a blip in my day to help me make a means to an end. But for her, I made her whole day! A day she was just trying to survive. A day filled with anguish for her. But one photo turned it all around for her.
I’m humbled to be part of that process. To be part of the process for everyone I get in front of my camera! To help you see yourself in a better light than before (pun totally intended. Deal with it.) and provide you with images that feel true to you. Photos you get excited about. Photos that you want to show other people, even if you don’t have a confident bone in your body.
Because that’s the magic I do best. I pour my heart into giving you the best experience possible. To give you a shot of confidence, love, and sometimes a bit of zany shenanigans too ngl 😜
