Today MLB celebrates the 21st annual Roberto Clemente Day commemorating his passing almost 50 years ago. On December 31, 1972 Roberto Clemente was killed in a plane crash while on his way to deliver emergency supplies to an earthquake-ravaged Nicaragua.
