Letβs talk about outfit choices β because what you wear during your branding session matters! (and sometimes more than you think)
Your photos will often be the first visual impression people have of your business, so we want everything β body language, facial expressions, style and colors β to align with your brand. Most of us think a cute outfit (likely business casual) is enough, there are a few common fashion pitfalls that can seriously distract from your message.
Here are 3 things we advise clients avoiding:
π 1. Tiny stripes or small patterns
They might look great in person, but on camera they can cause a weird effect, making your images look distorted or fuzzy. Stick with larger patterns or solid colors instead β they photograph much better (and more professionally).
π 2. Bright white tops (unless layered)
Pure white can easily get overexposed on camera, especially in natural light. It can also wash you out if youβre fair-skinned or in a light background setting. If you love white, no problem β just layer it with a blazer, jacket, or accessory that adds contrast and depth.
π 3. Logos, graphics, or text (unless it's your branding!)
Branding photos are about you, not the random logo on your shirt or something that might go out of style. The only exception? Wearing your own merch β thatβs totally encouraged when it fits the vibe of your shoot.
Always choose simplicity over distraction. Let yourself and your brand be the focus.
π‘ Bonus tip: Always bring a second outfit! We help clients choose what works best for location, lighting, and your brand personality.
Want someone to help you plan every detail β not just take your picture? You got it!
πΈ Our branding sessions include a pre-shoot consult where we walk through your outfits, accessories, and the story you want to tell visually.
