Six recent places my work was published, including an article I wrote myself. 😊

Young Rider magazine asked me to write about taking better horse photos with any camera, including your phone. So if you've got a kid (or you are the kid at heart) who's always trying to capture their horse and end up with blurry, poorly lit disasters, that issue is worth checking out.

The rest is a mix I'm really proud of: a cover for Kathryn O'Shea-Evans' new book Horse Country, a cover for EquiManagement's fall issue, two for Absorbine (UltraShield and Silver Honey), and an ad for Markel's horse insurance.

Different brands, different audiences, same theme: horses shown the way people who love them want to see them. ❤️

One of my favorite times of day for photography is just after the sun dips behind the trees or the horizon. The light everywhere is soft and even, yet directional (see the soft backlight on the foal's whiskers?) And there's still a sparkle in the horse's eyes with pretty bokeh in the distant trees.

Photography tip: Don't put your camera away too soon! This is a great time to shoot in those spots where there was too much sun earlier in the session. 🌞

I was on a networking call for members of Women in Equine last night, and it came time to introduce myself.

I always get a little nervous introducing myself. Will I forget anything? Will I make coherent sentences? 😆

Once I got through the basics, I shared one of the things I'm most passionate about, and the words came easily: My commercial photography focus is Equine nutrition, health, and veterinary brands. It's very nichey-niche!

Why? Because pretty pictures alone don't get me out of bed at 5am for a commercial shoot in Texas in June. Photos for brands that help horses live a better life will.

When I work for a brand that aims to make horses happier and healthier, I get a sense of fulfillment and purpose from knowing that I played a part in that. ❤️

It was so hot and humid this morning that my windows were sweating. 🥵 My horses were, too. I'm almost feeling wistful for winter! ☃️
