Nothing hits like late summer wedddings in Vermont.

The golden glow, the song of cicadas, the cotton candy skies that dance across the mountaintops at dusk.

Being back at the Mad River Barn always feels like coming home – the lush summer gardens boasting with hydrangias, the cozy inn and pub buzzing with excitement and anticipation, and the best comfort food that feels like your mom’s mac n cheese.

Laura and Brett got a weekend filled with all this and more. These two adventurers have a deep love for Vermont and all that comes with it – cross country skiing, tasting all the hoppiest beers, afternoon gardening, and paddleboarding on the lake. All this and more packed into a weekend of big big love, it couldn’t have been more joyful.

are wedding photographers ruining weddings?

have you ever been this guest at a wedding? the ceremony has concluded – there's not a dry eye in the room, and you can't wait to find the couple to shower them with all the hugs and love, but... they are nowhere to be found.

they finally arrive to cocktail hour after an hour galavanting with the photographer recreating TikTok trends in every single corner of the venue and then they finally arrive to their party with only 10 minutes to spend quality time with you (their loved ones) before the evening's festivities begin.

but this wasn't the couple's idea.

it seems like now, more than ever, wedding photographers are looking for content versus connection. they want couples to recreate trends, fake intimate moments, and dictate a photography performance rather than documenting real stories.

Just a little reminder that you don't need a big production to celebrate each other.

Maybe it's a quiet moment between just you two on a cool summer day, with nothing but the sounds of the river and the feeling of little fish nibbling your toes.

Perhaps it's a renewing of your promisees to each other. Or a celebration of an accomplishment, a new life chapter, or just a feeling that wants to be remembered.

Take the moment to slow down. To breathe and feel deeply. To be present and intentional. It's a wild adventure out there.

Knowing Greta and Xavier together is like when you’ve found that puzzle piece that fits perfectly into it’s empty shape and you sit back and sigh, knowing that everything fits just right.

You’d know this by the way Greta speaks of her collection of rings – broken by knots, imperfect timber, which Xavier loves fiercely – each ring, each version of her.

“Choosing to marry you has been a love letter to my childhood”.

You’d understand this by the way Xavier has been completely enchanted by their walks and talks in the park, how the first time the phrase “in my wildest dreams” ran through their head.

You’d also know this just by knowing that these two are two of the kindest, silliest, lovely people you’ve known and you’re just happy to be along for a small moment of their time together.

It felt like one of those Vermont summer days that lingers—the kind that reminds you why this place feels so steeped in nostalgia. Soft lilies tucked into Queen Anne’s lace in the wildflower fields, the Vermont mountains casting long shadows, the sun beating warm and steady, reminding you it’s July.

Lily spent her childhood summers adoring couples dancing under the white tent behind American Flatbread at Lareau Farm, imagining a future version of the celebration that would be her own. This Vermont wedding held all of that history, all of that feeling of nNot just a place, but a memory carried forever.

It was a celebration of two worlds coming together. Two cultures, two families, histories woven into a day full of wild laughter and completely full hearts.

The Art of Noticing.

It’s the way your hands find each other without thinking.
The way you laugh mid-sentence.
The way the moment felt, not how it looked.

You won’t remember if the weather was perfect, if you had dirt on your shoes, if the wind was blowing your hair in the wrong direction.

You’ll remember how it felt to be there, together.

It’s been 2 years since I found out you were a part of what existed within me. A few cells, growing and conforming into the shape of a bean, then a mango, and soon you were kicking me every night and rolling like you were practicing tumbling for a gymnastics tournament.

Every day with you has been beautiful, enlightenting, highly entertaining and absolutely wonderous. Some days end in worrisome tears, late nights, and rocking and singing you back to sleep. Others are complete joy – crooked smiles, new words that come out of thin air, and barefoot pitter patter on the bedroom floor as you greet me with your favorite book in your hand and exclaim, “Pickle!”.

Nora, my daughter, what a blessing it is to have you in my life. And to who has documented our story for four years now: Thank you for keeping these moments sacred. You have reminded me to slow down, remember every little detail, and take big deep breaths when my lungs feel just so full of love.
