I really appreciate Outlaw Motorsports giving me the opportunity to photograph the kart races from the infield last Saturday. There's always a great show at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center. Lots of karts and great racing. Here's a few of the pictures from the races, unfortunately I needed to leave early but still got a lot of pictures. Memorial Day FYI

This weekend we observe Memorial Day to honor all who gave their lives in service for our country. Originally called Decoration Day, the first Memorial Day was observed in 1868, right after the Civil War to honor those who gave their lives, both the North and South soldiers

If you ever visit Franklin, Tennessee you should visit the Carnton Plantation. The Battle of Franklin was fought there and some 2300 men lost their lives in the fields surrounding the plantation. The plantation house was used as a field hospital and you can still find bloodstains in the floor. But the most moving part of the visit for me was to go to the McGavock Confederate Cemetery where almost 1500 Confederate soldiers are buried. The worn tombstones show the real price of war.

This weekend I’m thankful for all the men and women who’ve paid the ultimate cost for my freedom. Whether you’re liberal or conservative, white, black, red, or any mix in between, Christian, Buddhist, Atheist, or any other religion, they died for you too. Just a friendly reminder, the freedom we enjoy today was paid for by the blood of those in cemeteries all over the world.
