Good Saturday morning! It is so beautiful this morning! Going to be a hot one though! 110-115 heat index this afternoon. Today’s project is to make some flower beds and a stone sidewalk. One step at a time for the sunset patio! Hope y’all have an amazing day!

Dear Buc-ee’s,

First of all… welcome to Oklahoma… soon..

As an Oklahoma photographer, it would be an incredible honor to see my photography hanging on the walls of your first Oklahoma store near Yukon.

For years I’ve traveled thousands of miles across this state documenting its backroads, ranches, wildlife, storms, small towns, and sunsets. My goal has always been simple, to help people see just how beautiful Oklahoma really is.

I think it would be pretty special for visitors from all over the country to walk into Buc-ee’s and see artwork that was created by someone who calls Oklahoma home.

If you think the walls of your new Oklahoma store should showcase Oklahoma photography, I’d appreciate your help.

Tag Buc-ee’s in the comments and let them know you’d like to see Oklahoma Backroad Explorer photography hanging in their Yukon location.

Who knows… maybe together we can make it happen.

Thank you all for the support you’ve given me over the years. It means more than you’ll ever know.

Simple. Quiet. Perfect.
If you get excited every time a big orange moon rises over an Oklahoma pasture…
We’re probably gonna be friends.

Just wanted to give everyone an update.

For those who don’t know, I’ve been living with Crohn’s disease since I was 10 years old. That’s 34 years.

Every two years I have to go in for a colonoscopy, and today I got some great news. My doctor said my Crohn’s is in complete remission, and there were no polyps.

That’s about the best report I could’ve hoped for.

I’ll still need to stay on my medication to help keep it that way, but I’m incredibly thankful for today’s results.

I also want to give a huge shoutout to my gastroenterologist, Dr. David Neumann. He’s been an incredible doctor and has played a huge role in helping me get to this point. If you’re looking for a gastroenterologist, I can’t recommend him enough.

Thank you all for the prayers, encouragement, and support over the years. Today was a good day. ❤️

Anyone feel the 5.0 magnitude earthquake in the Texas panhandle at 5:21? This is what it looks like on the seismograph that is near my house.

I should’ve known I was in trouble when my stomach sent me what can only be described as an Amber Alert.

Not a growl. Not a little rumble. This was a full-blown emergency broadcast.

“Attention. You have approximately 14 seconds to locate the nearest toilet. Good luck.”

Let me back up.

Today is colonoscopy prep day. Liquid diet. This afternoon… it is go time. Sadly, this isn’t my rookie season, so I figured I knew what to expect.

I was wrong.

I drank the prep and sat there thinking, “I’ve got plenty of time.” Those were the last intelligent thoughts I had.

A few minutes later my stomach made a sound I’ve never heard before. It wasn’t asking permission. It was issuing orders.

I stood up, and that’s when I realized my body was no longer a democracy. My colon had staged a hostile takeover.

I’ve never walked so fast while trying so hard not to move. Every step was a negotiation.

“Come on… just a few more feet.”

“Don’t do this to me now.”

“We’ve been through a lot together.”

I hit the bathroom like a NASCAR pit stop, slammed the door, landed on the toilet…

…and I’m pretty sure my neighbors thought SpaceX had launched another rocket.

Then came the questions.

How is this physically possible?

Where was all of that hiding?

Have I secretly been carrying around another grown adult?

The instructions say, “Stay near a restroom.” Near?

Friend… I’m considering changing my mailing address.

At this point the bathroom and I have developed a bond that words simply can’t explain. I’d also like to personally thank whoever invented elastic waistbands. Today’s just not the day for buttons.

So if anyone needs me today, I’ll be in my new office.

Please knock quietly. 😅

Hi. My name is David, and I’m addicted to dramatic Oklahoma skies.

The support group says the first step is admitting you have a problem.

Well… here I am.

I’ve been scrolling through old sunset photos like they’re family vacation pictures.

Every evening I tell myself, “Tonight’s the night.”

Every evening Oklahoma replies…

“Best I can do is heat index 108 and a sky the color of dishwater.”

I need another sunset like this before I start hallucinating mammatus clouds.
