1. Detail Shots
These can be shots of the dress, suit, rings, flowers, decor, invitations, table arrangements, and even food. Detail shots help to fill in just that - the details that are sprinkled all throughout your day that make it uniquely you.
2. Getting Ready Shots
These photos not only help you remember everyone who attended and was a part of your wedding, but they also allow you the opportunity to capture the essence of each relationship with those most important to you. 5 Easy Engagement Poses That Never Fail
1. Pose & Switch
Start with a simple pose, like interacting with your surroundings. Focus on one person first, then switch roles and capture the other. For example, have one person lean against a wall while the other walks in. Then swap! One pose, multiple photos.
2. Walk & Look
Have your couple walk toward or away from the camera. Start with one person looking at their partner while the other looks at the camera, then switch. Next, have them both look at each other, then both look at the camera. A simple walk creates lots of natural variety.
3. Lean & Kiss
Have one person lean against a wall, tree, or railing while the other walks in for a kiss. It's an easy pose that feels natural—and just like the first idea, you can switch positions for even more variety.
4. Sit & Cradle
Have one person sit comfortably while the other leans into them. They can laugh, talk, hug, or steal a kiss. These relaxed interactions often create the most genuine photos.
5. Hug
Never underestimate a simple hug. Try different angles, different embraces, and let the couple interact naturally. Some of the best moments happen when they forget the camera is there.

A beautiful wedding at Mayowood Stone Barn in Rochester, MN, with Marissa and Nathan. This wedding was gorgeous, from the flowers to the venue, and the little unique touches from the couple, including references to The Office TV show. We loved shooting this wedding back in the state where our business began - Minnesota.

1. How do we pick a location for our shoot?
Our answer: wherever you already spend time together. Your coffee shop, your trail, your kitchen. We talk it through with you, not off a location list.

2. How much posing should we expect?
Our answer: some direction when it helps, then we get out of the way. You shouldn't leave feeling like you performed.

3. What if I hate having my photo taken?
Our answer: honestly, most people say this. The session is exactly where we work through that, so it's already handled by the wedding day.

4. How long does an engagement shoot take?
Our answer: usually 45 minutes to an hour. Long enough to settle in, short enough that it doesn't feel like a chore.

5. Can we bring our dog?
Our answer: yes. If it's part of your life, it's part of the session.

We want you to feel relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera on your wedding day so you can get shots that you love and that truly feel like you. One way to get those comfortable-looking photos is to have a practice run - your engagement session. Even if you think you don't need it, we still recommend it so you and your photographer can practice, and you can all get to know each other before the big day.
