Though the rails have been quiet for a bit, the original Delaware and Hudson Alco is headed south on home rails and shown here on May 18,2026

Making their way north at Cambridge, NY, 3 of the 4 Alcos on the day’s northbound Batten Kill freight are seen crossing RT 22 in Cambridge,NY on May 18,2026.

Alco RS36 5015 is an original Delaware and Hudson locomotive built in nearby Schenectady, New York and is currently being stored on the Batten Kill RR.

This was only the second time in the Batten Kill’s history that Four Alcos traversed the line together.

Another day in May on the old BK:

Spent two days in May up on the Batten Kill RR and while it’s always nice to see the train run, there’s also something special about just seeing how much work goes into keeping the trains moving.

Here on May 19,2026, big John Mark and Colin work to get TC-7 situated for some track work to be completed near the old covered bridge at Rexleigh.

Spring’s wonderful virgin green is in full splendor , as a lone angler returns from a quiet morning fishing the banks of the Battenkill.

While the Fisherman‘s work is all but done, the Batten Kill crew is just getting started….

The units had spent the prior weekend at the  former Delaware and Hudson passenger Station at Cambridge NY and Weir here to pick up there Monday morning interchange.

Fabulous frontage Friday:

The lush spring foliage of Batten Kill Country is alive with color as SNEX Alco RS - 36 5015  steps out onto the high trestle at Eagle Bridge, NY on May 18,2026.

Conductor Colin Bukowski is enjoying the view  as he rides the pilot toward the yard throat at Dahn Lane.

The light power is shoving south to pick up the days interchange freight for the northbound trip back to Greenwich Junction.

 This is the first time this unit has poked his nose out across the Hoosic, and the weather seems to be celebrating her arrival.

 The unit has been calling Washington County home for the past several years and is an original Delaware in Hudson unit built at Schenectady New York in 1963.
