Another great tip from ! She told me to check out the other side of Mount Waldo for sunset and man, it did not disappoint! We caught the sunrise in Southern Maine this morning (can’t wait to share those pics) and now we’re saying goodbye to Maine. What a great way to end my first visit to The Pine Tree State! Can’t wait to come back!

Another pic from Sunday nights purple-filled sunset. This one, I noticed the PPG building peeking up over the trees as if it were enjoying the sunset like the rest of us. The clouds were so full and perfect behind it, I had to capture it. Barely any post-processing on this one, just an HDR merge to catch all the details in the trees and get all of the color from the sky.

Another picture in which the composition just caught my eye while I was on my way to a different location. The sky was full of pinks and purples last night with a little b of orange on the horizon, offering up the perfect backdrop for this tree. Kinda reminds me of Bob Ross lol

The amount of times I luck into framing is a lot. But this one was all luck. I was leaving a location, turned the corner and this scene just hit me. So I pulled over right away, jumped out of my car with my camera and tripod, set it up and snapped this picture. I was here less than 10 minutes. I love the lighting, the shadows and the symmetry. I love the scene. Due to this not being planned, there’s one thing about this picture that I don’t love, so between planning and setting up, I spent over an hour trying to recreate this picture minus one element and it just didn’t come out the way I wanted it to. I tried to me it better, I honestly tried. Which proves the point that sometimes it’s better to be lucky than skilled. This one was all luck. There’s no colorful sky, no water or city skyline but this is one of my favorite pictures I’ve taken recently.

Sometimes... a lot of times, I’m more partial to a picture not because it wows me when I look at it, but because of the story behind it... or what I had to do to get it. Like a lot of people, Fifth Ave Place is my favorite building in our skyline, so I’m constantly looking up at it when I’m walking around the city. That’s how I got this one. I was in the middle of the bridge for about 30 minutes last night trying to frame this one up and get it while avoiding becoming someone’s hood ornament. Luckily it was late and there weren’t a lot of cars passing through. That red streak across the bottom of the photo is a car riding past as I got this shot. Just for fun, I uploaded one of the many failed shots I got when I had to move the camera while the shutter was open 😂 However, I did get run over trying to get out of the way of a car... by a bicyclist. Then we debated like 2 Canadians for about a minute on who was mostly at fault: “my bad bro, I should have been paying more attention, I didn’t mess you camera up, did I?”. “Na, that was on me, I need to be more careful, is your bike cool?”
Good times lol

Last night’s sunset was like a beautiful watercolor painting the way the clouds streamed across the sky and bounced color off of the sun. This was one of my favorite sunsets to watch recently.
