I always told myself we’d go back every summer.

Just one more trip to the sunflower field.
One more photo.
One more year to watch her grow.

But life happened.

Dance classes, school days, work deadlines, family adventures… and somehow, those yearly sunflower photos became a memory instead of a tradition.

Looking back now, I’m so grateful we made the time when we did.

Because these aren’t just photos of sunflowers.
They’re a tiny snapshot of a season we’ll never get back.

Some love doesn’t need direction—it simply unfolds.

This sweet couple has spent more than 20 years building a life together, and for one evening, I had the privilege of watching them laugh, tease each other, steal little glances, and hold hands as if no one else was around. Honestly, I felt less like their photographer and more like a quiet observer, catching glimpses of a love story that has only grown richer with time.

As I edited this gallery, something kept happening…

I found myself returning to the black and white images.

Not because the color wasn’t beautiful—it absolutely was. But the black and white photographs seemed to quiet everything else. They stripped away distractions and left only what mattered: the joy in their laughter, the comfort in their embrace, the trust written gently across their smiles.

I’ve always believed black and white photography isn’t a shortcut or a way to “save” an image. When done well, it requires just as much intention, care, and artistry as color. For me, it’s about creating photographs that feel timeless—images that will be just as meaningful decades from now as they are today.

As I looked through this gallery, I couldn’t help but imagine their children and someday even their grandchildren discovering these photographs. I hope they’ll see exactly what I saw: two people who genuinely enjoy each other, whose love is playful, steady, and beautifully real.

While everyone is celebrating this holiday weekend, I’m reminded that the biggest moments in life aren’t really the fireworks…

They’re the people standing beside us while we watch them.

Years from now, your children won’t remember every decoration or every meal.
They’ll remember who was there.

That’s why photographs matter.

This little boy in the first photo is the same sweet little guy you see at the end. Same family. Same location. Just a few more birthdays, a little more confidence, and so many more memories.

This is why I love what I do.

Photography isn't just about beautiful images—it's about preserving the little moments that quietly become the big ones. The missing teeth, tiny hands, growing families, golden summer evenings... the moments that change before we even realize they're gone.

Watching families grow in front of my lens year after year is one of the greatest blessings of my career. Thank you for trusting me to tell your story and preserve these chapters for generations to come. It is something I will never take for granted.

Summer always feels endless until suddenly it’s over. ⏳
